"Long Before Sam"

When I inhale Mother Nature
I feel closer to God.
The right should be mine
to smoke her plant from my yard.
Time after time it broadens my mind.
If it helps me unwind.
What's the real crime?

What's so wrong about smoking Marijuana?
It's the only drug out there
that's actually pretty good for ya'.
It's been prescribed to patients
with cataracts and cancer.
Unlike alcohol...
It's a mellowness enhancer.

The only problem with it
is it grows out from the ground.
The Government can't profit from it
so they rule it out of bounds.
But behind the shady doors of those
enforcing this law...
No one's really sure
on what they're banning it for?

If they made an attempt to legalize hemp...
half the world would rejoice
once this law is exempt.
The truth will be told
when the story unfolds.
I will behold, when it's legally sold.

Although it's been around
long before Sam.
No one had the right
to ban it from the land.
It saddens me to see
that greed had beaten weed.
I'll surely plant a seed...
if ever finally freed.
