Mall interviews for the show airing 1/18/2008
Bill - I was disappointed in your segment in the mall in which you asked voters if they would vote for either Hillary Clinton or Barak Obama. This seems to be feeding into the established big business media effort to narrow the race down and leave John Edwards out the of mix. I would have thought that of all shows we could count on you to not play into the effort to give attention to only corporate friendly candidates.

My comment was that the segment was skewed to the mainstream media bias that there are only 2 democratic candidates, when in reality this is not true. This was especially disappointing given the fact that this very issue was the topic of rather lengthy conversation on the show that aired the previous week. The reporter from the Rolling Stone who had followed the campaigns in Iowa stated that John Edwards was the best Democratic candidate with the best message, but was being virtually negated by the mainstream media by intentionally ignoring the Edwards campaign.

The segment on the 1/18 show giving voters only 2 choices made it appear that the show was jumping on the mainstream media band wagon to quickly narrow down the race after a small minority of states had held their caucuses/primaries to a race between 2 rock stars. This is very much not in keeping with the Real Time that I have come to know. Bill has never been one to bow to this type of bias in the past.
notice how bill always seems to break it down for us...anyway, what would your blog or comment be regarding john edwards?
Thank you for pointing this out! I always thought I could count on Bill Maher to talk about ALL the candidates, and was appalled that he left John Edwards out of the mix on Friday's show. You can do better, Bill!
