This is a letter I just sent to President Obama with my concerns about the drug war/gangs/drug lords and my ideas to take the power away from them. This is serious as I believe we are on the verge of a war we are ill prepared for.

We have problems that need to be dealt with now given the amount of violence rising over the drug wars coming from Mexico. If you want to take the power away from those who sell drugs and kill our kids do this: Legalize marijuana and other low impact drugs and have the Federal and/or State government become the entity that controls the drug sales and
collects taxes on the drugs at much lower cost to those who are going to use anyway. If you take the profit away from the drug cartels they will evaporate soon. They are in the drug game for the huge profits
and power and there is nothing that this government can do unless you take back the streets by offering the same product for less. Call it the Wal-Mart effect if you wish but the war coming up from the South is
only going to get worse and our citizens are going to be caught in the cross fire unless something drastic is done to head it off.

Of course there will be those who will fight this line of thinking tooth and nail but throwing billions of dollars down the drain year after year with no discernable advance in steming the tide is NOT the answer. By taking away the profit and legalizing those products several things happen.

1) The amount of money spent on incarceration of American citizens whose only crime is smoking something that grows wild is put back into the collective pockets of this nation.

2) I would venture to say that law enforcement could save billions across the board with any program that takes away the money and power from the drug lords. Drug bosses would not have any power to hold
onto.

3) We would be making money through sales and taxes and creating jobs through this kind of program.
It's time we made CHANGES across the board and drugs are one issue that needs to be addressed and soon. Other drugs could very well come under the wing of the Federal government such as cocaine and those types of drugs. This would make sure that those who are having problems with these drugs are as least getting clean, safe drugs and given the chance to fight the usage through governmant sponsored treatments programs.

Once again you've taken the profit away from the Drug dealers and higher ups and created jobs and profit for America. Do not mistake my intentions as I have been clean since 1986 and did prison time for it,
which saved my life. Treatment is still the best alternative to using

but that in itself is NOT going to address any of the bigger issues surrounding drug dependency but in reality will take away the profit margin and power base of those who are willing to kill our citizens for money. Hit them where it hurts the most......the pocket book.

To my way of thinking this problem coming our way is one of the biggest threats to this country bar none. We already have millions of illegals simply walking across our borders and disappearing without a trace and who knows what their true purpose is for being here. If something is not done on a drastic scale to address this problem we are going to wake up one morning and find ourselves in the middle of a war that
could have been dealt with in a much more realistic manner. We have grown complacent in this country and for too long have trusted that our elected leaders especially the last administration knew what they were doing but it is quite obvious to everyone that they did not and it WILL come back to bite us very soon and then we will find ourselves having to spend many many billions of dollars on our own soil fighting a new threat from the South.

The reality is that this threat is real and has already affected almost every city in this country and will continue to only get worse until we no longer own our streets and all of our children will be drive by
victims or worse. This is a real solution and should be looked at not only from those who don't use side BUT from those who are addicted and need help but can't see the world as it is any longer. Take away the power of addiction by those who would gladly kill us all for profit.
