Hello, my fellow American Citizens. The POHP is a concept I have been formulating for a few years now. Think of it as a party that has no platform as much as a party with the dynamics to bend and shape accordingly as the world and Americans dictate. You are probably a member and don't even know it. Do any of the following apply to you?: My vote doesn't count, I'm neither a R or a D, I vote for whichever of the two (R or D) that I feel is the best, I don't vote because I don't like the candidates, I feel the government in inherently criminal, I feel there is an us versus them mentality in government.
The POHP has one underlying principle. We declared independence from England so that we would have a representative government, freedom to practice religion as individuals, and an end to aristocracy. That corporate influence has become out new aristocracy, special interest groups have short circuited the representative connection between government and it's citizens, and the separation of church and state goes out the window when the President admits to using 'faith based initiatives'! The POHP calls for the return to our governments original intent. All laws and governmental actions must pass one simple litmus : Life, Liberty, and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. All laws, governmental functions, and citizen conduct fits under this 'Supreme Law'. If your pursuit of happiness is rape, murder, theft, or such it would come completely into conflict with your intended victim's pursuit of happiness as well as their Life and Liberty. Speeding, theft, rape, murder, trespassing, lying about wars all are covered by this simple sentence ' Life, Liberty, and the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS.
Individual platforms ( infrastructure, health care, immigration, invading countries ) would then be the defining points for citizens to use on whom to elect, instead of what Party to elect. The Rep. and Dem. parties have been making a lot of hay off of this two party system failure we have before us. Corporations have been taking full advantage of our government's weakness. I say it's time to POHP on their parade. Just imagine, instead of an R or a D after a Senator or Representative's name there would be a smiley icon!! In all seriousness, two parties will automatically polarize and turn a gray world into a black and white solution. If the 53 and growing percentage of non-voters, the flip-floppers, and the so called centrists would all just decide that enough is enough!
We the people know what is right and wrong, evil or not, and what is American or not. Torture, wars with no clear or definable reasoning, corporate bloating, and the raping of the middle class for the upper classes betterment are things I would have on my own platform, separated entirely from any actual representation of the POHP party. The party only advocates the Pursuit of Happiness as a legal restraint on laws, politicians, and it's citizenship. Direction of governmental actions such as How we tax, what we spend it on and how, campaign finance reform, separation of church,corporation,special interest groups and the State are more for individual office seekers to use as their platforms and for the citizens to choose by right of votes - bearing in mind that all platform goals must still adhere to the POHP mantra "Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness".
