This morning I am sitting in a tent on a hillside in the Roman summer heat waiting for our first shot of the day. A large formation of fully outfitted soldiers are bunched in front of me. 12 horses gallop around the background being ridden by men in ancient Roman soldier uniforms. Behind them, the remains of a stone acqueduct makes arch shaped shadows on the grass. Buzz! My blackberry vibrates and I am back in the present doing my best not to eat a cornetto (sugar coated croissant) for breakfast. Dieting in Italy is the worst form of torture.
This location is 5 minutes from Cinecitta' (10 minutes from Ikea!) - but this morning it feels very B.C. as the soldiers holler and wave their swords. e are shooting day 3 of episode 204 with this crew, and back at the studio we are shooting our final day of episode 203. At wrap tonight, the crew and cast from will celebrate on "the forum" set with a "wrap barbquE."
Time seems to be moving so quickly now - another episode wrapped...and then I watch as a slave in a tunic walks past the Senate House - and time warps again.
