Roland you stated: "Organized religions have been more of a curse than a benefit to civilization. One needs to look only at the present, and not the past to verify this! The conflicts that have taken place recently between Catholic and Protestant in Northern Ireland, the conflicts that have taken place between Sikh, Hindu, and Muslim in India, or the conflicts now being fought between Jew, Christian, and Muslim in the Middle East. The histories of the three Abrahamic religions in particular are covered in blood."

You are talking about extremists. Every single religion you referenced are not this extreme. Yes extremist and fanaticism exist, but is every single person in every single religion this way. Is that why there is an effort and success of Ecumenical cooperation? Of course they were covered in blood, much like early man fighting for survival against other clans? Just like things that are covered in blood that have nothing to do with Religion, but more to do with politics.

Aren't their protestants, catholics, muslims, hindus who can be in a room without killing each other, and focus their conversation about agreement that their is a higher power that we can never understand that teaches us the importance of Morality?
