The Pope may have never been a NAZI, but he was defiantly a pedophile pimp. I was raised Catholic and have great respect for the traditions and values the church was founded. I also know that I need to distinguish the teachings of the churche's creator and the sins of its leaders.

I do think that these leaders should be held fully accountable for their actions. Up to and including incarceration. Money has paid for the suffering and turmoil of some of the victims of these atrocities. It also has lead to silence and shame among its victims.

The Pope surely has changed his tune by asking forgiveness. Was that because he had no other choice?

I have never been a victim of clergy abuse, but I have been a victim of abuse in early childhood. It changes who you are forever. It stays with you forever. It is a permanent mark on how you react to things everyday of your life.

Shame on you Benedict and your half hearted plea for forgiveness.
