If you told me a year ago that my call sheet (daily production itinerary) each day would regularly require goats, horses and herds of sheep, that my daily route to the work would be the Appia Antica and that I would find men in dresses and sandals quite virile and sexy - I wouldn't have believed you. Never say never.
One day that comes to my mind as a slice of what it's like working on "Rome" and living in Rome, would be the final day of Episode 201(which picks up 15 min. after the finale of Season 1). The start of the day was shot on the backlot of Cinecitta' in the forum: a mob of Romans burn Caesar's body. We had 262 background artists in togas around a huge bonfire screaming and chanting. Big rain clouds rolled in and we feared the weather would interfere with shooting (it didn't). The last scene of the day was an emotional and bonding scene between Vorenus and Pullo.(I love that friendship)\
After a long day of work, a group of us (actors and crew) relaxed and toasted the completion of Episode 201 on a beautiful terrace overlooking the Tiber River. That is how I would best describe this experience so far: grand and intimate, passionate and peaceful. Vibrant, always.
