First Episode was Great!!

I've never read the books, but I thought the first episode was great.

What did you think? Some say it moved too slowly?

The best parts:

Jill Scott - GREAT! her warmth radiates from the television screen.

And the other actors and actresses are great too. I cannot wait for their characters to be fleshed out more as the series goes on.

MY favorite favorite part though is the setting. I just recently spent 5 months abroad in South Africa, a neighbor of Botswana. I miss the accents.. and the singing .. and just everything. The show brought me back to Africa.

It was truly a good show. And now that "Big Love" is on hiatus, it's nice to know that I still have something to watch on Sunday (to the dismay of my boyfriend).

We all need a Precious in our lives, a sensible person to give us tea and soothe us.

I have not read the books either but I agree that the first episode was wonderful.

I don?t believe that the show moved too slowly because as mentioned the characters are being introduced.

I have two favorite parts:

1) When the detective found out the real reason why there the man had the fraudulent claims of having his finger chopped off
2) Although the guy was a womanizer his, excitement and appreciation for voluptuous women. (Boy did this guy have me ROTF!)

I am so glad that there is a quality show set in Africa which depicts Africans in a positive light! This is a wonder show that I will continue to watch & support and it is great to have something to watch while True Blood is on hiatus.

I also enjoyed the first episode. Right now, I am looking at it again and can not wait until tomorrow night's episode.

It is so refreshing to see a program with an african cast that is not about murder or mayhem

I really enjoyed everything about this pilot. It moves slowly, but I understand that the books do too. The locations are so exotic - the music is great and would love to find out more about that.

I laughed thru the entire program. My hats off to the BBC and HBO for producing such a charming program. I definitely will pick up one of the books.

I also enjoyed the "Pilot" and thought it was really, really good. I liked it mostly because as a whole, it was rather "innocent" compared to the fare we usually see on HBO, you know? I thought Anthony Minghella did a great job capturing he scope of Africa, and the vastness of the land. One of my favorite shots was when Precious was driving the boy home and she stopped her truck to rest the sky was so beautiful and everything has this feeling of peace, you know?

I agree with you the first episode was great.

I don't feel it moved too slowly. The audience is being introduced to the characters.

The part(s) I liked best is this show is different. So refreshing.
