Did anyone notice on the Day of Days segment on the website, that on the map, the area they are referring to as Georgia is in fact actually South Carolina. SC is below North Carolina.

hey!!! last nights two episodes were really good!!! but david schwimmers character was a monument to his ego as an actor...i hear he is a real jerk in person and it is kind of laughable that he plays the mean captain that whips the boys into shape,,but the truth will set you free because he got his in the end..those noncoms turning in their stripes was yes, stupid(you got shot in those days for that) but a true testament to loyalty and esprit de corps for their lt....the jump scenes were fantastic, the battle at the 88's was filmed really well...very close to saving privtae ryan but better...i really look forward to the rest of the series..it authenticity, the language and all else...the lt. could use a carbine or a tommy gun..carrying a m-1 looked weird and him not having his sidearm after the jump seemed stupid unless it was in his dropbag when he lost it in the jump...later..and have enjoyed this page and reading everyones comments...thanks..

It was refreshing to see the German foot soldiers portrayed as something other than the purely evil gas them all thundering hoard types (as was the case in Private Ryan), specificaly the scene where it is revealed that an American (yes anyone born in the US is a citizen) returned to the fatherland with his German parents to fight for Germany, was quite poignant. This was particularly so when the American GI then executed them all (the German prisoners) in cold blood.

I hope they continue this balanced view of the war where good an honorable men died on all sides, and where evil and cruelty reared their ugly heads with equal opportunity.

In the end, no one is the victor when so many die due to the tyranny of a few.

Disappointed. I'd been looking forward to this series for over a year, after reading and loving the book. The impression I got from Amrbose (and others) is that paratroopers were tough, fierce, brave, strong, well-conditioned, trained...and above all, proud. Last night's opener was dominated by the stereotypically whiny officer, not fit to lead men into combat. We waited through 30 minutes of trite anecdotes for his inevitable dismissal. I would have much rather invested that time in learning who the men were, why they volunteered, and how they trained (including fierce hand-to-hand combat) to become the best there is. Great special effects, but like Pearl Harbor, a Miss at a once-in-a-lifetime chance to really understand the Men of the 101st.

Add me to the list of people who have enjoyed BoB. I recently finished reading the book -- something I recommend everyone do before viewing the movie. I agree that it keeps pretty true to the book, although I don't remember the bit about the German soldier from Oregon. I'm on the fence about Scwimmer's performance. I think he did a good job but agree that I can't quite get rid of this image of Ross Chandler. My pick for the role of Sobel would have been someone more in the lines of -- Bruno Kirby. I'm looking forward to the remaining episodes.

Thanks MaraHolly, the names/faces of the men are hard to follow sometimes. I found it strange how some of the men treated Hall from the 82nd. I wonder if this was common during the war.

I am the Vice President of the 101st Airborne Division Association. While I am a Vietnam Veteran, I interact frequently with the brave men who served in the Division during WWII, many of whom are still alive with us today. We must keep the memories and the legacy alive. The 101st Airborne Division is the greatest Division in the history of the United States Army. If you were ever a member of the Division or wore the Screaming Eagle patch, we need you in our association. Come and join us!

I really enjoyed the first two episodes, this mini-series is going to be great. I watched all the ending credits and couldn't believe how many people it took to make such a mini-series. It's great! I have watched many WWII documentries and read many books, the only BIG surprise for me was the German soldier who was born in Eugene, Oregon but because his parents were German had gone back to Germany to fight (I am assuming before US entered the war). I began to think I wonder how common this was might have been. Did many immigrants to US go back to their homeland to fight in Europe?

The look and the color of the mini-series was great. It was colorized...but with a Black & White look to it all the time, because so much of what we have watched of WWII is black & white I am sure they made a consciencous effort to give us that look of realism. If it was too colorful, it would have looked fake to me.

Waiting for Episode 3!!!
