this is by far one of the best series that hbo has created. it had a bit of everything...drama, action, comedy. one of the things i like most is that it was based on true events. so many younger people of today have either forgotten, never knew, or really don't care about events in history that allow them to enjoy the freedoms they have today. this series is a definite must see. yes, it has terror involved, but it did happen. easy company was not the only company of men fighting for their country, but this was a particular story. it'd be tough to tell all of history in one film and do it justice. anyhow, seeing men that might still be in high school or barely into college sacrificing so much for their country is eye-opening. it wasn't just the great acting and directing that made this film great. it was also the interviews from actual survivors of WWII that added a sense of realism and feeling to this movie. seeing these men on the street today, if any of them are still alive, we'd probably think..."jeez old man. get out of my way!" or "look at that funny old man" after watching this series, it makes you think twice when you see an elderly person. you realize their age is full of history...so instead of brushing them aside, you might think "i wonder what this person's life has been like or Who they might have been....and really still are" you never know who that old person is/was. are they a hero or are they really just a zero? i loved this series so much, i bought the dvd collection. the only thing i was disappointed in was the fact that there wasn't much about the ACTUAL men who fought in WWII. it was more about the actors who pretended to be them. i commend the actors/film crew for bringing their story to life, but it would have been more intersting to see more of the interviews and learn more about them. the bonus dvd was more about hollywood. fine, but the real men who were there was what the story was about, so i felt let down in that area. i wanted history not hollywood. you click on a character, you see the actor and not the man. Nutz! anyhow i figured i'd start this thread in case anyone else had an interest in the series and had comments they would like to share. Jim

BoB played again on the History Channel this weekend. The first 5 episodes on Saturday, the 2nd five on Sunday. It is still a top notch series. It leaves me excited for the Spielberg/Hanks/Playtone upcoming effort, The Pacific, to be seen in 2009. It'll be good, but I don't think it will match BoB. I think that has alot to do with how the two wars were perceived. Anyway, I figured I would post. I see not too many have posted in quite a while, which is a shame. I am happy to see HBO leaving the BoB website and the mesage boards up. It would breakmy heart if they tore them down. Lastly, anyone watch the NBC show, Life, this year? Did you notice that the actor who played Bull Randelman was in a couple of episodes. I found that to be interesting. It's good to see some of the old gang working together again.

Happy 6th birthday to the series! Yes, I know it originally aired on September 9th 2001... It was a wonderful series and it did a great service to all the American men who served in Europe during WWII. It's a shame that the series was only 10+ hours, because I would watch 100 hours of that type of programming with that level of accuracy, authenticity, and acting. Many of the veterans of Easy Co. have died off since the original airing and more WWII vets die everyday. We need to capture their stories so they can be stored and replayed for later generations. WWII is slowly starting to disappear from our rear view mirror. The lessons learned from that war should never be forgotten.

I check the forum out once in a while. Haven't watched the series in a while. The current war is too close to home right now to enjoy the show. -- ******************************************* "I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night."

Hey!!! Someone else is still watching this forum? Very cool! I still watch this series every couple fo months or so. It is so very well done, and each time I learn a little bit more. I am still trying to get my arms around all of the characters in it, there are so so many! Also, there is A LOT of references to other events in the war buried in the episodes. So after I study on specific battles I then go back and watch BoB and understand it better...

I enjoyed this series very much as well. I wish more work of this caliber was done on historical events. We all witnessed what "Saving Private Ryan" did for churning up interest in WWII-Europe. Time is running out for many WWII veterans. They all deserve the praise that the 506th/Easy veterans received.

Excellent series. Never seen World War II combat described with so much detail. Does a very good job on taking you to the one of the hottest spots during WWII.
