On Jan. 31, 2007, Rep. Tim Holden of Penna. introduced H.R. 796 requesting the President to award the Congressional Medal of Honor to Maj. Winters for his heroic actions in leading a 12-man assault on the guns at Brecourt Manor. ("Day of Days") Thousands of individuals have already signed the on-line petition supporting a medal upgrade for Maj. Winters. You can do more to help by contacting your Congressional representatives and Senators by email, telephone, fax, or mail -- particularly those on the House Armed Services Committee -- and asking them to support H.R. 796. Many of the Easy Company survivors and their family members have signed the petition. I'd guess that they would thank you for any support you could give to the effort. -- Edited by LMBUSA at 04/09/2007 7:22 PM
