Anyone else notice the blooper when Marg & Nicki are walking down the supermarket aisle? The camera focuses on a woman walking toward them wearing a denim shirt & black pants, holding a blue purse. Next scene - the camera shows the woman past them down at the end of the aisle turning the corner. 2 seconds later.... whoops - the woman is right behind Marg again walking toward the end of the aisle. Sloppy, HBO.

Anyone with experience with open relationships probably understands this pretty well.

I was going to mention pets, even friends, but decided not try to stretch the envelope too far. lol

It really is more like that than most people want to admit. Add the religion, or the "faith". Subtract the abominiations, like over indulgence, unfaithfulness, perversions, and multiply the experience, passion, variety, and joy. Think of members like digits instead of just taking a number in the pecking order. Then 1 and 1 and 1 is 111, not 3. Or 1 plus 2 plus 3 is 6 at the least, allowing for each one to be different "number".

To have a sense of belonging is way more fulfilling than to have your own pie in the sky in your own ivory tower all to yourself.

When it turns into greed where more makes you think you need more; then you have trouble. Some old perv, way past his prime does not need a huge harem, that is sick, wrong, and not justifed even by their own standards. Historically, these are wicked kings, not holy prophets.

You can get too much of a good thing. And sometimes too much is worse than not enough. (including money) If all three wives were exactly like Barb, it wouldn't be nearly as special for any of them. Who would want to live in a universe of dopplegangers? These ladies really do need each other. Sorry folks, but life just isn't going to be 100% fun and games. If you can get a little of that relish it.

Wurks4me,

I think you and I see eye to eye on this. I agree completely with your pie analogy, and your analogy of kids. It's true. Hell, it's even true with cats. Each one you add, you love, each one is unique, and each one wants an exclusive, special, intimate relationship with you. Each one wants to be your favorite. And you try not to have favorites, but sometimes you do anyway.

Anyone with experience with open relationships probably understands this pretty well.

I hope their is some kind of soundtrack of all the music they're using for this thing -- really clever and creative use of all different genres.

children are not like wives (or husbands for that matter) ... it is a completely different kind of relationship.

True, but time, emotional/physical committment, it all still happens in this different kind of relationship. Like the old adage "A man must work from sun to sun, but a woman's work is never done."

You still have to slice yourself up like a pie though right? You can't possibly have the same love. Intimacy with one takes away from the other. Time has to scheduled and allocated, and "fair".. oh ya! Everything has to be fair and equal. Right?

You can't love all 31 flavors, you have to choose a favorite. Then live with choice. lol

I think Nicki slept with him before they were married, too. I think Bill can't help being a little bit selfish, because of the way he was raised.

No. That would be a moral compromise for a good upstanding fundamenalsist. Premaritals sex is not part of the relgious belief; to the contrary in fact. There would have to be an eternal commitment and a ceremony of some sort first.

I wondered too; why is Nicky asking Margie this guestion. Is it ia confession?

Totally agree w/you on Barb and Bill....I wonder sometimes if they'd just rather go back to how they were....
I don't know about Ms. Nicolette and premarital sex thing - on one hand, yeah, she's a little liar and master manipulator, but, she's got a lot of compound still in her, and I don't know how much of what re sex was instilled in her growing up. She's so complex -- love the character!

Poor Bill. I believe he's fallen in love with Barb, and it's a mutual thing. He wants to love his wives equally, but I think Barb is always going to be his favorite, no matter what.

Look at the way his father treats his wives, and the way Roman treats his, and you have to wonder how Bill managed to turn out so well! At least he truly wants to do the right thing, and he does love and care about each one of his wives, even if he doesn't always really understand what they want or need.
