Thanks for a very intelligent, well-worded post. I agree with you 100%.
Besides, there is no such thing as an "illegitimate" child. The original reason it was a problem, was that men owned all the property, and a child not acknowledged by some man or other, couldn't inherit anything, and its mother could not provide for it.
Now that it's all down to what money we make from our jobs, in theory an out of wedlock child ought to have a pretty fair shot....IF we paid women as much as we pay men.

The collectivization of agriculture in the early
USSR was done by convincing the people the reason
they were starving in the richest lands of what
used to be a net exporter of food was not the collectivization process but that there were evil
"kulaks" (rich farmers) who were holding out
and hoarding food. It was a simple matter to kill
off land owners and farmers that way by encouraging
the mobs to act. As people were killed off the
amount of property one had to have to qualify as
a kulak was reduced and reduced and reduced. Take
a look at the history of the "rich man's tax" as the
16th Amendment and the federal income tax were sold.
Feel "rich" lately?
