IMO I agree that different people thrive in different circumstances. For instance, I would not be comfortable living in a place where there are not many Jews. I have plenty of non-Jewish friends but I think that if I were always the only non Christian somewhere I would be uncomfortable. I can certainly understand how my friend felt when she lived in Utah. My husband felt funny when he was there and he was only there for a few days (on business).

My husband has a non mormon cousin that lives there, they are Catholic. He has a very succesful business. He does a lot of business with mormons without any problem, I believe they moved there around 1997. He and his family are very happy there, they do a business to business type business and deal with mormons and mormon companies all the time. Their children are very happy there. I think it all depends just like anywhere else in this country. We found that in the Air Force and even talking to people now who love or didn't love certain areas of the country for all kinds of reasons. You can take two families and put them in the same city and they will most likely each have very different circumstances, it just depends like everything else in this world. Her kids all felt left out. When you talk to them about Utah (they are currently in 8th, 12th, and college freshman) they all say they are NEVER going back to Utah. They felt very isolated when they lived there.

I thought that Lois and Eddy discussed getting an SBA loan to open the laudromat. Since it doesn't seem to have ever opened, maybe they're just hoarding the money. Isn't it part of the FLDS mindset to bilk the government whenever possible? Correct me if I'm wrong. I believe Lois's laundrymat, which is co-owned by her and her brother, is a front for gambling. Remember, her brother gave Bill money for a large percentage. Lois needs to put that money of hers in trust for her grandchildren before Frank gets it. Guess the Mormon banks would inform Frank.

MomtheSinger, when did your friend live here and where? Things had gotten considerably better when I went to high school from 93-96. I know it is a bit hard when some of the kids go to seminary, but I didn't feel left out. vijoge, where did the Catholic businessman have his business? I haven't heard of this kind of hooey going on for years. Mind you, I grew up Catholic and lived here my entire life. If you couldn't make it in the business world solely based on your religious affiliation we would have no bars here, but we do.

I have a friend who lived in Utah for many years. He's a man, black, and Protestant. He's also a musician and I think this is part of the reason he had such an active social life and large circle of friends. He always said he was very well accepted. I know another man, white, Catholic, and a businessman. He actually joined the LDS church because no one would patronize the business of a non-LDS. His wife is LDS and I guess that's why they continue to live in Utah (as well as the beauty, etc).

However, I have a friend who used to live in Utah. She is a non Mormon and she said it was difficult to live in Utah if you are not a Mormon. She said some people (not all) wouldn't socialize with non Mormons and it was difficult for her kids to make friends there. She is originally from Georgia and currently lives here in Florida.

I missed episodes 15 and 16, so I'm a bit behind the curve this season. Where exactly is the money from Lois' laundry-mat coming from if not from the laundry mat? Thanks!

I just want to second what Amanda said about Utah. I've only moved here recently, but I see quite a bit of diversity, honestly. I worked at walmart as a cashier for about 3 months when we first got her, til we got settled.... Many Russian speaking customers, I won't pretend to guess their countries of origin, many asians, I was really surprised at the number of people from Africa, lets see..also many from India...........and there's been polynesians here for a long time. It's really not THAT white bread unless you're out in the middle of nowhere farmtown maybe... -- yup, I'm a Mormon!

Hellenbach, > Anyhoo.... Give that little B#@*h Rhonda a chance. Barb gave Rhonda a chance, and look what's happened to her. Rhonda's accused Bill of raping his own daughter, and accused Barb of tolerating it. You really want to defend that? She knew what would happen when she outed Barb. That's why she did it. And she knows what ought to happen, now that she's made these horrible accusations against Bill. I can't wait to see what she does to the Tuttles. -- Just think, Herbert. In a thousand years, this will still be controversial.
