I posted this in another thread, but this is more to the point, from Entertainment Weekly: Amanda Seyfried's attempt to tackle some edgy theatrical material has been thwarted by scheduling issues. EW has learned that the actress, best known for her singing-and-dancing role in Mamma Mia, won't be starring in Zack Snyder's 1960s-set, R-rated action fantasy Sucker Punch for Warner Bros. Seyfried was offered the lead role of Baby Doll, a young woman who has been committed to an insane asylum and fantasizes about escaping with the help of her fellow inmates. But with shooting scheduled for the fall, HBO won't release her from her Big Love commitment, which will be in the middle of filming its fourth season. If you mean the little indented scar on her forehead, it could be a pox scar, or it could be from cystic acne (cystic acne=large hard zits that take forever to go away and can leave indentations on the skin). I hadn't noticed it until I saw the Mamma Mia bonus material. Make up usually covers small scars like that.

On her right temple? I think that's a chicken pox scar.

It would be nice if all of Amanda's scenes (probably won't be that many) could be filmed before Sucker Punch begins filming, but I guess that wasn't something that Big Love producers wanted to do.
Aside from being a huge career boost, I'm sure Amanda would have made a lot more money from Sucker Punch. A lead in a big budget movie would be seven figures, even for a young actress. This decision by HBO probably cost her a ton of money.
As far as the scar on her forehead, yeah I've noticed it. Looks like maybe an acne scar.

i'm really disappointed about this as i was really looking forward to "sucker punch" and amanda as the lead. she still has a couple of big movies coming out (cannot wait for diablo cody's jennifer's body!) but still, i agree, her character is so minor on this show, as much as i would hate to see big love loose her, i think they should let her go or shoot her scenes around her filming schedule. i doubt she's going to all of a sudden have a major role next season. really sucks for amanda.
