Fenrir's mother in hospital

Fenrir's mother had a heart attack and is in the hospital.

I told him that I am praying for her. She needs your prayers too.

Gee. . .I'll bet that EXACTLY what those people were discussing at that moment and in their drunken state, decided to re-enact it. . .LOL;)

wow....see, to me that's so appropriate to Palm Sunday. Palm Sunday is about Jesus' donkey ride into Jerusalem on the vernal equinox, which is an old pagan ritual performed by priests of Dionysis, Bacchus, Osiris, Adonis, Dumuzi, Tammuz, and others. And the main part of it involved the crowd clothing the barely-dressed priest in leaves until he was completely covered, often stripping down as they do so.

It symbolized Springtime, and, funnily enough, sexuality & fertility. Kinda like those Easter Eggs. I'm sure a lot of the women singing "Hosannah" in the crowd, were stripping down--I mean, come on, Adonis rides by and you keep your clothes on? As if!

Oh. . .that just sounds bad. . .how big could those palms have been????

I remember our girls nights getting out of hand. . .We have a bar/resturant here locally that everyone hangs at. . .He ones two other party/meeting halls also. . .

One time, we got so loud, the owner had to come over and ask us to quiet down, because we were louder than the Mariachi music. . .But, he sent over a round of drinks in compensation!!!!

The last Christmas party I was at...

The staff was getting quite loaded and then clothes started coming off. ]:) I left when people started waving napkins and doing some sort of strip tease.

Uh, that is really not me. ;) I try to maintain a low profile.

Memories.... I left that job ASAP.

I used to work as a waitress in a catering hall that did weddings and stuff. You'd be surprised how rowdy weddings and holiday parties could get as the night goes on and the alcohol flows.

At one party, they had palms on the table because it was around Palm Sunday. As the guests got drunker and drunker, someone started doing fan dances with the palms. :O Once again, clothes started coming off. It like just seemed kinda wrong...here you have the palms for Palm Sunday and then people are doing a strip tease with them??? ?:|

That sounds really cool. . .especially when you can travel home on bus or train, or taxi after. . .it adds to the excitement of the evening. . .that's one of the things that I miss here. . .You go to a party, then everyone just drives off in their cars. . .You can't drink, because cops are everywhere, and you have no one to unwide with. . .the glow wears off really fast. . .

Although I remember going to a company dinner once, where after dinner, the restaurant portion closed and the night club opened. They don't do "last call" here, so at 2:00 am, the lights come up, and you have to leave. We drove to an after hours club, and hung out until 6:00, then we all went to breakfast at Denny's. . .We got home just in time to shower, change and get to work on time. . .

I'm an an Office Admin for a small Real Estate Firm, which is the same as an Office Manager. I mentor the new agents and make sure they learn proper procedure, and make sure that all paperwork meets guidelines. If there is an office dispute between agents, it is up to me to sort it out, as well as develop programs to promote productivity. I also hold a RE License, so I do that also, as well as being a Loan Officer/Processor. I was an Escrow Officer for quite a few years, so If my office decided to run their own escrows, I am qualified to do that. On the side, I have a small Notary and Business services, where I prepare certain paperwork and can Notarize the documents, as well as record them if necessary.

Nope. My old store is in a Chapters bookstore, so it's safe. Every Chapters, and I think Indigo, has a Starbucks cafe in it. Plus, they're also building more stores out my way. It seems silly, especially since they're closing so many stores in the States already.

I would've returned there this summer, but I've heard horror stories about the new store manager from some friends who are still there, and I wanted something where the hours were guaranteed and scheduled in advance to make sure I made enough money for school in September.

Ah, nostalgia.

I work for law firms, and they do big Holiday parties.

The best one was the Christmas of 2000, in the World Trade Center. Two parties - one in a restaurant downstairs - I don't dance, but we ended up dancing to "Who let the dogs out." The other party was thrown by the vendor who did a lot of our outsourced work - they took us out on a boat on the river. Lots of music, food, drinks and dancing, in the Hudson River and the NYC harbour. I remember all of us dancing to "New York, New York" - dozens of people in a huge circle, kicking our legs. I remember it, because a friend and I started it, and egged everyone else on.

One of the best company parties I've ever been to - except for getting home from the pier afterwards! All of us trying to catch buses or taxis at the same time. But it was a really fun evening.

Is your old store one of the ones on the chopping block for Starbucks? They're closing down a whole bunch of their stores I believe.

I actually work for a labor union (I'm a research analyst/campaign researcher :) ). One thing I've seen so far, the union knows how to take care of their members and staff, rather stark contrast to the corps I've worked for previously. I seriously think I will end up retiring from the union, I love the folks I work with and love union work in general.

Now the summer parties, the

Geez, I bet so. That sucks when that happens. I will admit there is some noticeable nepotism in some of the union halls. It apparently was pretty bad at our Albany office before I got hired (I'm in Rochester-we have branch offices in Albany, Buffalo, & Syracuse but cover all of NY outside of NYC). One of my friends at work said the boss there hired his son, sister, daughter, sister-in-law and then wife and NOTHING was getting done. (not cool) They got rid of them all apparently though and the Albany office is doing lots better now. We have some family members working together at my union hall too but it doesn't seem to interfere with the operation of things. My boss (who is a great guy and does a great job in his position btw) is the son of the joint board manager lol. But while there may be family members working together its by no means anything like that with folks not being treated right. My unions a very welcoming place to work :) That would seriously suck, feeling like that at a company function. I don't blame you for being happy to be gone.

The first few years was great. . .They had only been in business for about 1 year when my (then) husband was an associate, and I was working in a related field. They were very nice and friendly. Later I quit my job and became an associate, and they were still great, but the company grew, and I became a Manager. Later I given "assistants". we always solicited interns from within our "company family". But you know how it is when you get to big. . . they feel you've outlived your usefulness. Funny. . .the 4 girls I had as interns are now all sharing my job. . .and i hear from other associates that all the programs i started are gone, there is no help, no classes.

I understand that my job had to be eliminated because of the economy. (I was one of the highest paid employees) so on a professional level I understand. . .what annoys me is that a few snot nosed 20 - 24 year olds, who I trained, and who can't get a job anywhere else, because they have no experience, bad mouth me all over town. . .And I still make the same amount of money as before. . .with more time off, and not having to see their bratty little faces any longer. . .

Sounds like the place my mom used to work at. It was a really small office, and one guy owned the whole company, so he'd invite his whole extended family to the Christmas dinner. We would show up anyway because he always had the dinner at a fancy restaurant that my mom would never be able to afford to take us otherwise. It was neat, but kind of awkward.

When I worked at Starbucks we would go to a restaurant for Christmas dinner after a Sunday closing, and for the summer we would all go to the beach for the day. That was a ton of fun! I heard that since the store manager left and a new one came in, they haven't done anything like that. So that's kind of disappointing, but I'm not there anymore so I don't really care.
