Happy this show came out!! (2nd Wife)

Hello, I am a second wife in a 2 wife marriage, my husband had his first wife in 1997 and then me in 2001. He has 4 children with her and we are working on children of our own. We all live under the same roof and sometimes it can be tough, but this show has gotten me through tough times. We don't share the same beliefs as the prophets, we are average christians, and it just worked out this way, my husband does not have the option of a third wife. LOLOLOL that has been agreed by both myself and my sister wife.

I love margene because she is so sweet and doesn't get involved and I love her for that, she's honest and reasonable.

Again thanks for Big Love and getting me through the tough times!!!

How is it all "perfectly legal" if the girls are underage? I don't understand that.

I really don't understand the way men think sometimes. They want to be all over the place having sex, and they want the women to be faithful to them, and they think it should be just fine with everybody.

Well, it isn't. If you want someone's undying devotion and faithfulness, grow up and be faithful to them, for crissake.

Women are just as tempted to cheat, as men. Men are just as capable of controlling their libidos as women.

And no, gay men shouldn't marry women. Maybe clergymen and gay-bashing morons should stop ordering them to do so.

But nobody's ordering men to cheat on their wives or knock up high school age girls. There's no tremendous social pressure on straight men to be unfaithful, the way there is on gay men to conceal that they are gay.

Straight men who are incapable of monogamy could simply live single and play the field, or they could have open relationships where the woman was allowed as much freedom sexually as the man. (Men hate this, because the woman ends up getting 5 propositions to his one, every time.)

there is indeed the practice of women having multiple husbands. the masai tribe from the horn of africa practices this and i know there are other regions of the world like india and sri lanka where this is practiced. and while i have no idea how true this is, i've also heard that some of joseph smith's wives had other husbands--with his approval--so i guess they just had one big ole party!

Ah, yes, another fallacy. Le'ts see which one this is.

Ah, here we are: Ad Hominem

Name calling doesn't in any way accomplish the task of proving what I've said to be incorrect.

You say I have "narrow-minded blinders on" and I'm "fullashit" -- prove it. :-p

JH, if you need to reconsider your opinion because I've stated my own, maybe you're not so sure of what you're saying -- maybe you don't know your own mind. ;)

JH, you're the king when it comes to using red herring fallacies and trying to pass them off as legitimate arguments.

Gay men marrying women have NOTHING to do with this discussion.

Underage marriage/sex is another contridiction. I totally agree that underage marriage and sex shouldn't be condoned. But, I work in a school where I see 16,17,&18 year old pregnant girls. Some girls are pregnant for the second or third time. Their baby daddies are much older than they are and have other girlfriends at the same time and have many children whom they cannot support. And it is all perfectly legal.

> I am very selfish. My husband is my husband. I am not willing to share. But there are a lot of double standards that are not right and still they stand. And a lot of women have that sort of self esteem issue. He's too good for me..i have to hold on to him. I can't lose him. Not right but it's the way people feel.

Sonya, I don't consider it selfish to expect to be treated with the same respect and consideration that you yourself would give to your husband.

I really personally feel it is a double standard, and one has to wonder at the audacity of a person who says, I want to do this BUT YOU CAN'T.

That's my only issue with polygamy, but of course, it should be reiterated that this is MY issue.

Anyone who has no problem with this double standard should be free to do what they want.

I think the issue that many find unattractive about polygamy is the subliminal manipulation that "seems" (please let me reemphasize SEEMS) to be taking place.

When you're giving someone ultimatums, outlining for them rules they should follow, but that you are exempt from, assigning them roles and restricting their freedom to do what they want, that smacks of manipulation to me. But like I said, maybe that's just me.

And of course, a person with self esteem issues is ripe pickings for a person who wants to dominate them.

Damn and it made such perfect sense to me. Maybe I'll have to reconsider since the world's arbiter of nonsense has weighed in.

Yeah and men who believe they are gay probly shouldn't marry women either -- but it sure doesn't stop em does it?

I think your answer to that question should probly alleviate the neesssity to deal with the rest of this.
