I agree. And Bill is sort of a "I'll deal with the consequences later" sort of guy.

I think Bill had to know what he was getting back into-he grew up on the compound and Id assume knew Roman Grant way back in his childhood . He properly just didn't care-and not in a bad way I don't care-more in a "Barbs sick,,,we need the money and I don't care how I get it or what happens after"kind of way. When your desperate(and I'm assuming he was) for money like that-some people don't think about what could happen down the road when they make deals to get the cash they need today.

They have no blood relationship and even the relationship through marriage is not like they have been raised thinking of each other as siblings. They did not even know the other one existed. And according to what I have read about FLDS, they sometimes marry people closely related to them.

At the risk of sounding cliche' I really love "Big love" too.I have always been intrigue by people who life lifestyles a bit away from the mainstream. It's a very well written show, although season 3 was a little slow.maybe everyone is getting over the novelty of polygamy and realizing the family is more normal than not. I love the tensions and dynamics of the show.Big Love is a fantasy,an indulgence for most of us.They are not trying to convert or dissuade anyone from this type of lifestyle. Its entertainment pure and simple.Don't overanalyze everything, just enjoy the show.

I agree, I think Big Love gives you a look at both sides of polygamy. You have abuse of the Principle on the compound but you also see love between Joey and Kathy. Even Joey and Wanda. You have the Henrickson's who are in a loving family but they have their problems too. I have immensely enjoyed the show. Withay, I'm glad to see you back here. I'm looking into the LDS actually. Thought you mind find that interesting.

If that ends up being the case I think its going to be a secretive thing. But then again in the Church of Bill Hendrickson anything goes....I have a feeling that this upcoming season is going to be a liberating one for Nikki I hope she can find some closer on the daughter thing. It was really sweet how Bill didn't even ask questions...Is it January yet lol

I almost wonder if perhaps there will be some sparks between Ben and Nikki's daughter. A bit taboo, but not completely. She would be his half-stepsister, but not blood related......just a thought.

Yeah I understood why he married Nikki, but I think he should have known that that family was just asking for trouble. I'm wondering what is going to come from Nikki's daughter that they brought into the show. How that character is going to play out next season....I just junked out on the whole season from last year...I did it a little to soon....Now I have to wait months for answers...sigh LOL...

I love this show...It has so much nonstop drama...I think personally that's why people watch it....I think that it defiantly does not glorify polygamy in the slightest....Whats appealing about this show is how abused Bill is about being kicked off the compound as a child..Look at his parents for example...How could any child be raised by them and not have issues...He is a business man and knows how to talk himself into situations. I know that he loves all his wives and I honestly think that he feels like he is doing the right thing. But you will see from last season it got really interesting... He starts to question his beliefs while Barb is accepting them...Bill its seems enjoys the thrill of doing the unthinkable. Why would he marry the daughter of a man he truly despises that is the one who kicked him off the compound and thinks is truly evil. Why would he marry an incredibly young girl like Margie who have NO Mormon background the daughter of a promiscuous alcoholic. Then try to marry a woman who is a smoker and a drinker from a different country. It seems like its the thrill... I could go on forever about this show. So much depth...There is so much pain in the Hendricks Homes right now. I really hope the death of Roman eases some of that next season

TTP, I think you and I agree on HBO's portrayal of polygamy. I am totally an outsider who is not personally familiar with polygamy but who believes that it should be an option as long as it is entered into willingly by all involved. And I agree that it is usually portaryed in a very biased way. I think HBO has done a good job of showing all aspects of plural marriage.

I would say that HBO is not glamorizing Polygamy in any way. They are however not demonizing it out of proportion like so many folks like to do. They are presenting it in a fairly unbiased light. I say fairly unbiased because I think they still have a slight slant against it. HBO though has done far better at presenting a neutral veiw point on polygamy with the Show Big Love than I have ever seen. I can only hope that this show will help to crush the sterio-type that all polygamists are compound trash and abusive. An earlier post mentioned how abuse can be found in any church....I am glad you pointed this out. You will find bad people in every church, organization, country, state, town or community.....this is just how it is. Dont judge everyone by the actions of a few. It will be interesting to see how the next season will go. The one thing I am really hopeful of is that when they finally do end the series that they will find a way to keep the family together. I would hate to see a split up.

You are absolutely right...what one person loves is garbage to another. And if you don;t like something, just change the channel. On the other hand, Hung got better as the season progressed (IMO). The first show or two had me trying to decide if I wanted to continue watching. But I "Hung" in there (pun intended) and am glad I did.

Don't like it? Don't watch it. Simple. I watched the first episode of "Hung", and I thought it was incredibly stupid. But I'm not going to go over to the message board for it's fans so I can bellyache, and list down the reason why I don't like "their" show. To each their own, yanno?

I don't think Big Love is trying to convert anyone either. They are telling a story and one that has not been told. I find it very interesting. The women are all so different from each other and each have their own story to tell. I love it.
