For people who don't like Ana...

OK, I'm curious. I happen to really like Anna's character, or at least what we've seen of her. I like that she's really non-judgmental, I think that she sees the good in people, and I admire anyone who can pick up and move internationally. I think that shows guts. She also seems really up front and honest, wanting to get issues out in the open instead of going about things in a passive-aggressive way.

Now, I can see how that might not swing in the Henrickson family -- the show would be a lot less interesting if everyone were healthy and stable, but let me ask a question. Many people have said that they don't like Anna. I'm curious about whether that's just as a fourth wife, or whether you don't like the character.

LOL, it is funny how I seemed to like Ana, as long as she wasn't messing with Bill. Or visa-versa.
It reminded me of that song, Third rate romance-low rent rondezvous (randavoo). ;)

IMO Bill is more at fault. Ana did not make a vow to Barb, Nicki, and Margene before God. Bill did.

Exactly. Bill should have never been making out with her. I have say that he is as much at fault as she is.

As opposed to America, where the main objective for a woman is to....marry a successful man.

I do like Ana, but I don't care for some of the things she has done. Making out with Bill in the pantry was wrong, but half of that incident is Bill's fault too. And he did play her for a fool.

T,

Wow, good point - I never thought of it that way.

And Ana dislikes Barb and Nicki. I don't
> think she respects Bill's marriage at all.

Although I'm tempted to say, "But NO one likes Nicki when they first meet her," I definitely agree that she does not respect the marriage.

Ooh, I like that. I'll take it a step further and say that I think she's also a way for Margie to learn the difference between wanting to be friends with someone and wanting to be married to someone - which is a concept I definitely don't think she understood at all when she got into the marriage (which I think she got into for the wrong reasons, but which I think she is staying in for the right reasons, even though I think the whole thing is nuts when you get down to it).

I hate Anna. I think she's manipulative and is just looking for Bill to take care of her. Look where she's from, in Russia the main objective for a woman is to marry a sucessful man. I don't trust her and I don't think I want a fourth.

readerreader,

I liked Ana as a person, right up until the minute she made out with Bill in the pantry.

Then I didn't like her quite so much, because it's obvious to me that Ana's no polygamist. She doesn't want to join the harem.
She just doesn't see him as "married," now that she knows he has three wives.

ONE wife, who's a good friend, you don't touch that man. But three wives? Margene's already sharing so who cares? And Ana dislikes Barb and Nicki. I don't think she respects Bill's marriage at all.

If Ana becomes the 4th wife, (she won't,) two things will happen. 1) Barb will leave. Really leave this time, and for good. 2) Ana will try to introduce equality into the marriage eventually, by bringing home a second husband for everyone to share.

I think Ana is there to show us the difference between polygamy, and cheating on your wives.

Since when was that ever the criteria for anyone else. See.. you just want to hold the polygamist to higher standards than you are willing to abide by yourself. :)

I'm not a big fan of Ana or any other fourth wife. To me, Ana just doesn't seem to fit in with the other wives. Also, Bill can't handle the family he has now. He certainly shouldn't add to it.
