Jonathan Ames, a young Brooklyn writer, is feeling lost. He's just gone through a painful break-up, thanks in part to his drinking, can't write his second novel, and carouses too much with his magazine editor. Rather than face reality, Jonathan turns instead to his fantasies ? moonlighting as a private detective ? because he wants to be a hero and a man of action. Series Premiere Sunday, September 20 at 9:30PM.

We are getting a second season of Bored to Death Yeah!! I loved the No. 1 Ladies Detective too but have not heard anything about a second season. I'm a fan of Big Love and love True Blood. I can't have those canceled!

This show is so unique, well written, and acted! Bored to Death is the reason I subscribed HBO! Its subtle humor is the reason it's smartest show on television. I really hope HBO decides to give it a second season. This is another great HBO series I hope gets renewed. They should listen to the viewers and keep shows like No. 1 Ladies Detective, Flight of the Conchords, and Rome (a truly exceptional series) and CANCEL melodramatic shows like Big Love and True Blood, which are sooooo boring and contrived.

> You are so right about not much comedy in tv land > worth watching. I don't think there is one comedy > show on network tv that I watch. I find I am watching > less and less on the networks as the seasons go on. > Cable, HBO and Showtime are just so much better. I watch ONE show on the big three networks. The Office. That's it. I watch South Park and Mad Men on cable, and everything else is either on Showtime or HBO. I'm a movie girl so I only make time for television if it's worth it. Bored to Death was worth it for me. Truly enjoyed it. -- Edited by IAdoreJS at 11/13/2009 6:59 PM PST

Well, I agree about Mad Men. No arguements there. That show is exceptional all the way around. It's the best drama on television in my opinion. Nurse Jackie is another great show. Say what you want about the writing on Bored to Death..but it's still the best show on HBO. (let me guess..you're a writer?) Not much comedy in tv land worth watching right now. I love this show. Great cast, very funny. I was a little disappointed in the finale I will admit, but I'm looking forward to season 2!

Show has a good cast, but lackluster writing to me. I'm surprised they're bothering to make another season of this series. A waste of HBO's great talents (and money) in my eyes. Can't imagine anyone wanting "Bored to Death the Complete 2 Season Box Set." To me, this was a failed experiment. A writer trying to live out his Raymond Chandler fantasy (don't they all, once they read Chandler?) except "Bored to Death's" author, Jonathan Ames, just can't write compelling stories. I've read some other stuff by him and it's very blah. Faux Bukowski, Proust light. Naming the lead character after himself. Please, it this the fast road to fame beckoning? HBO should wise up and dump this series before other cable networks with shows like "Mad Men" steal their once solitary cable thunder.

Very witty, original, and the casting is great. Definitely enjoying the series thus far. Makes me that much more excited to visit my cousin in Brooklyn next Spring (first time going to NYC)
