Who do you think will hold/win titles in their respective weight classes in 2009? Are there any up and comers that you expect to make an impact on the sport?

Berto is not as great as he is being hyped up to be. Collazo out-smarted Berto and lured him into his kind of fight which deserves as much credit as Berto showing heart in the final round. Berto is a good solid fighter. Collazo is also a good solid fighter. Berto showed his grit. And that's what it takes to hang in there when you're in with an evenly matched opponent. Collazo didn't get to the top of the WW heap by being a chump. He's got skills. What will be more telling is where Berto goes from here. I do agree that he shouldn't be rushed and needs to plan carefully or his career could get shortened considerably.

I do not know who will win titles but hope to see more exciting boxing. The last fight I saw was Berto. In time I believe Berto will be a great boxer. Now tomorrow is going to be great. Can't wait to see Mosley and Margarito. Dr. Klitschko STEEL HAMMER will keep the title for awhile I believe. Seems after being in the ring for a few years has made Klitschko a better fighter. Be difficult for any heavyweight to bring him down. For the Hatton and Pacquiao fight I will be going for Hatton. I like how Hatton has his own band to play while he fights. Now that is sweet. What I want to know is where is Winky? -- Edited by Heythatsmychair at 01/23/2009 1:48 PM PST

All I have left to say about this one is this.... I believe Berto lost the fight and if he doesn't make any major adjustments I think Collazo will knock him out in the rematch. But I think Berto will prepare like a beast for the rematch...so, Berto should win the rematch cuz you can't teach an old dog new tricks. Collaze will remain the same fighter that came in for the first fight while Berto won't but I still believe that Berto won't be able to face harder opposition than Collazo (at least not at this point in his career)

haven't been around for awhile, but as I looked in today this topic is great. I very much enjoyed the fight, I really did not like Berto before this fight because he was being pushed by continuously fighting underachievers, even getting dropped on Friday Night Fights last year by an unknown guy who was very slow and really should never had a chance against him. But he showed me alot of heart in this fight even though I believe he lost by one point. But it was close so I can deal with it (116 to 111 what the hell was this guy watching) it was fun though and enjoyed myself. Now with that being said, before Shane was set up to meet Margarito they were thinking about putting Shane in against Berto. The only thing I can say now about that is Berto better never look towards the superstars because by no way is he in that category. He's to small and his chin is suspect can you imagine Margarito, Clottey, Cotto, Cintron, Williams meeting this guy? My advise to Berto is be smart and for now take your time because you are not ready. Good fun fight had a blast. I see Shane winning on a split decision on Saturday any takers? I agree with you as far as the Berto scenerio. He shouldn't think about facing the elite fighters because he is obviously not in that category. I also believe that he lost that fight by a narrow margin and I honestly hope that judge who viewed it 116 - 111 has his license revoked cuz that score was a joke. As far as Mosley and Marg....I hope to see an explosive fight and hopefully see Shane fight toe to toe with him. He's a boxer but he should've never made those strong statements (I can take whatever he dishes). I've always been a Mosley fan but likewise have been a Marg fan for a long time. I have to go with Marg simply because I think Marg will land the harder punches and will land the more significant ones...I see Shane running for the most part and boxing in spots but I hope Shane Mosley proves me wrong and steps in at least a few times to give fight fans what we're looking for and that is.....A FIGHT!!!!! GO ANTONIO MARGARITO!!!!!!!!!!!!

mr908 you must be a floyd hater but let me put your hating you know what in check. floyd beat castillo in a close fight. castillo missed alot of his shots due to floyds defense when he put his back on the ropes. it had nothing to do with money. the 7 round was supposed to be where castillo was getting floyd but i watched it over the other night and he was missing so dont compare berto/collazo. collazo was doing good but he gave away rounds too not punching. berto won a close fight which should have been split or maybe even draw.

I aint gonna lie it was a hell of a fight tho. But you best believe Berto will win the rematch. His hand speed is way faster than Collazo and he will adjust accordingly. It will give a lot of people DEJA VU cause its the exact same thing that happened with Mayweather vs Castillo. Castillo gets robbed in the first fight, Mayweather adjusts accordingly, beats him in a rematch and they both end up with significantly fatter pockets at the end. The problem is that the true winner did not get his hand raised the first time so will get the smaller piece of the the pie in the rematch instead of the bigger piece he so rightfully deserves. Sometimes I ask myself, "Is Vince McMahon running this thing?" -- Edited by mr908 at 01/21/2009 8:44 AM PST

Yes Collazo was robbed, yes Berto seemed to show no mobility and just stood there and let Collazo tee off on him. But lets get one thing straight, THIS IS A BUISNESS. The true winner won't always get the W especially when the challenger has a blemish on his record and he's up against an undefeated fighter. Have you learned nothing from the first Castillo vs Mayweather fight? This is the soap opera that boxing has reduced itself too. Instead of being the bloodsport it was meant to be where gladiators have one or more losses on their record like it used to be, they rather keep these punks with undefeated records to try and boost ppv sales. I'm deeply saddened by what boxing has become. Undeserved champions and dudes dodging each other left and right only to fight smaller or weaker opponents get fat contracts for the big bucks. Meanwhile hard working warriors like Collazo who'll fight whoever whenever get pushed aside EVEN IF THEY WIN and are relegated to eating scraps from the table. Its a damn shame. But hey, who said this aint a cruel world we're living in. Cash Rules Everything Around Me C.R.E.A.M. get the money dolla dolla bill ya'll!!!! -- Edited by mr908 at 01/21/2009 8:24 AM PST -- Edited by mr908 at 01/21/2009 8:28 AM PST

predictions for champions. 1. Calzaghe will shut the mouth of his critics and doubters by winning against Chad Dawson. 2. Pacquiao will have his last year after beating or loosing against Margarito or Mosely. 2009 will be the last years we will going to see Pacquiao. 3. Bernard Hopkins will have his last fight, and lost it. 4. Anderson Silva will reign supreme at UFC - MMA the whole year. 5. Kelly Pavlik will return. 6. Roy Jones Jr will have his fight vs Glen Johnson and bth will retire. 7. Vic Darchinyan will have 2 fights vs Nonito Donaire this 2009. 8. Georges St-Pierre will beat all his opponents, who ever they may be. 9. Y. Gamboa will have his first lost, very early. 10. Klitschko brothers will still be the man to beat at Heavyweight division.

I saw the fight 6-6, giving the close rounds to Berto (2,5,6,7,11,12), and with the point deduction, I saw Collazo winning 114-113, it was a very close fight

Berto was exposed by Collazo! Collazo was robbed. Berto's dad stated in the 12rd, "You need a KO to win son." Same mistake Jack Mosley did when SSM fought ODLH in their rematch. I always knew Berto wasn't s***, let him fight a top 5 opponent and we'll be hearing AND NEW WBC... It's good to hear from somebody that's as upset as I am, After this fight I don't even want to watch boxing anymore. HBO hyped up Berto so much that they couldn't see him loose I wish he would fight Margarito Berto would look like a little b****. It has been a very, very long time since I've graced this blog. I think 2006 was my last!(jam, that's a long time) But alot of the reason for my Machiavillian like absence was because of comments like those! So obtuse, bias & illogical! Listen, the fight was close, very close. I honestly said it should have been a draw. But I wouldn't have been calling for Collazo's head if he was awarded the victory. I even watched it w/the sound off again & it was like flip the coin. This fight somewhat reminded me of the Jermaine Taylor/Winky fight...speed/power vs pressure/volume. Now, this was when Stewart messed up a potentially great thing in JT(from this pinpoint, piston-like, knee-buckling jabber to the wild, pwr-punchin' trained middlewght to fight like a heavywght boxer on skates we see today). Winky hit the guy w/far more shots, but never really committed(Winky's MO) to hurting JT, plus he took off the last round. JT hit him much harder & it was evident on Winky's face after the fight...nor did he call for an immediate rematch! As a judge, you ask yourself do I value volume, pittypat shots or speedy powerful, more telling shots??? The 116-111 score was upsurd to say the least of Berto/Collazo, but it could've gone either way or straight down the middle. This wasn't a robbery fellaz, just a good fight...one of those you just don't leave in the hands of the judges! Collazo didn't even make a big issue other than the 116-111 score...he even felt the fight was close! The robbery was Collazo/Hatton, Felix Strum/DLH, Zahir Raheem/Erik Morales(cause he still got the mega fight w/Pacquiao even though he lost the setup fight)! -- Edited by DatParkerBoy at 01/20/2009 2:00 PM PST -- Edited by DatParkerBoy at 01/20/2009 2:01 PM PST
