What are the best Boxing video games out? and for what systems?

I haven't played a boxing game in a long time. I have the Wii and PS2 and the last game I played for boxing was the wii sports one, it's fun and a decent workout but nothing else as of late. What do you recommend?

I usually play Middleweights and Below. Heavyweight fights end to fast. and Everyone wants to get Ali.

My style is very well rounded but I normally use the style of the Character I use. So If I play as Ricky Hatton I don't block.:^O

I would love a challenge. I won't say I can't be beat but I haven't lost.

The only problem I have is when the game freeze up and it's not as real as the basketball, football, baseball and hockey games. The only problem any guy or gal on the other joy stick has is me. If the new fightnight has a way 4 me 2 make you a believer from a distance that would be good 4 me, but bad 4 you. I would come back on here and brag my ass off.

Oh, I got a chance to play the Don King game. I really didnt like it. It looks pretty good and the control scheme is the same as fight night, but the game seems really stiff. It seems like your characters have been over starched before they get in the ring.

I hate when the fighter gets stuck too and your right wants that happen you can get off a few good shots. What's a little weird 2 me is it seems like the right cross is more damaging than any other punch. You know the hooks and uppercuts looks harder and make more of a bang, but I have been able 2 hurt guys more with the right cross.

i see two problems with fightnight. the parry when you block a puch and your fighter gets stuck in slow motion for like 2 seconds and you get hit with a four peice... and the fact that you can get hit witha four peice and not get knocked out. i have landed some perfect punches with power punchers in that game and im lucky if i get a stumble. they need to make the damge of well timed punches more severe... on a positive note the game is really good but those are things that get to you after youve played the series for 5 years and you run out of good things to say about it .... its awesome

Ehh. The Haymaker is VERY easy to evade or block and then you simply counter punch. My buddy is the type of player who plays a power puncher and throws nothing but hooks, haymakers, and uppercuts. I also play a power puncher but I tend to stick to tons of jabs with the occasional uppercut or hook. Our fights always work out the same way. I pepper him with jabs until about round 3-4, by which time he has exausted himself with all the haymakers and hooks that I have dodged/blocked. You can probably guess what heppens next. So no...the haymaker doesnt ruin the game. It may ruin players who think they can win a fight with only it though...

Does any 1 remember Ring King on NES? I believe it was the 1st boxing game 2 show the fighters whole body. You could move around the ring and knock your opponent out of the ring and that's what I did knock alot of opponents out of the ring.

The fuuny thing is, as far as sports goes, I only try 2 learn boxing games. I sorta like Hockey games as well and that's only cause you could fight in Blades of Steele on NES.

I love Haymaker nuts. It makes things easier because I can see the punches, Block, and then Counter. I almost gave up playing it because nobody wanted to battle me anymore....I must admit I was kinda a sore winner. :^O

Continuing down the memory lane.

Another great one was Rocky for Sega Master System. Excellent graphics (when compared to the NES), mini games, and hard as heck. I eventually had to cheat and use the trackball attachment because it had autofire just to beat it.

I don't think it is out yet but I do hear it is good. I don't know if I will like it though because FNR3 has kind of spoiled me with it's control scheme and layout (not total punch control....that sucks). The roster is a little bare, your right there, but the career mode really makes up for it. I like playing my created boxer more than any of the rl ones.

What about the ring side girls??
Since 1990's I remember HBO used to minimize the screen to show the corner and fighter while the beautiful models reminded us of what round it was. How many of you guys like to be reminded again?
