Whether you felt he won or lost on Saturday night isn't what this is about. Mainly what I saw in this kid was heart, hunger, never giving up, and handling adversity really well. I liked how he was in the post fight, he gave props to Collazo which was huge and this was the key for me "I WOULD LOVE TO GIVE COLLAZO A REMATCH" How often do you hear fighters say something like that? This fight made me feel better about the future of this sport. Far too often we see fights that don't have with this fight had, or the response after the fights being disappointed. What do all of you think?

I was more impressed with Collazo than I was Berto. Why? Because I've never seen Collazo fight that well, but maybe Berto isn't what or who I thought he was. I don't think Collazo lost, but I don't think he won it either. Berto delivered the harder shots, but Collazo took those shots, VERY WELL and from seeing him in other fights Collazo just flat-out looked good against Berto. I scored the fight a draw. I wish I would have taped it, but I only saw it one time and I wasn't at home when I watch it. I was just flippin thru the channels with these folks remote control in my hand and stumbled onto the fight by chance before the first round started. I can't analyze the fight, cause I don't have it on tape. If I did, I might could pick a winner, cause it was a Very close fight that could have gone either way and that's why I scored it a draw. Neither fighter dominated, that's why I don't think either fighter deserve to win it really. I haven't been on the net lately but I can see why some people might think it was a robbery, cause Berto wasn't his usual dominating self. Imo, going by Andre's performance against Collazo, there's No-Way I see Andre Berto reaching the elite level. I'm just simply tellin it like it is. Even if Berto wins a decisive victory over Collazo in a re-match, he still needs a lot of work. Floyd or Paul W? Those would be two automatic losses for Berto.

He gets nailed with the same shots he took from Collazo by the more heavy handed fighters out there he's going down. Collazo is not a big puncher and had him rocked on a couple occassions.

Yes, boxing could use more fighters like Andre Berto, but it could use more fighters far more practiced than Andre Berto as well. Berto has good physical gifts, but they may not be good enough to allow him to compete at the highest levels. It will be difficult for him to compete with men the size of Antonio Margarito and Paul Williams, for instance.

What do all of you think? I totally diagree, Berto won by robbery and IMO he didn't look impressive at all in the fight. Berto did say he would give Collazo a rematch, but only because he felt he lost the fight. I don't see much in this kid as many do, he gets special treatment as a champion and when the hell is he gonna fight any top 5 WW?

I agree with Steve that Berto handled adversity very well but theres no way I see him winning that fight. Let's see Berto/Collazo II to settle the issue but this time without judges "in the bag" for the HBO star.

Steve, I'm with you 100%. I was amazed at how these boards lit up after the fight as if were just a highway robbery. Personally, I scored the fight a draw with Collazo winning by a point on a bogus point deduction. But in the grand sceme of things, who cares. This was a terrific fight, and it had a young phenom taking a huge step up in class and gutting out by far his toughest win. I'm also with you being glad that he stepped up and is willing to grant Collazo a rematch. I think Berto has the goods to go a long way in this sport. People are going to say, hey he barely be Collazo, how is he going to compete with Williams, Margarito, or Cotto? I think he definitely can compete with those guys. Hey, it was his first fight against a top 10 fighter. I would pick him to beat Collazo easier the next time out, maybe even KO him. Hopefully, we get to see Berto-Collazo II within the next 6 months or so.

As fans, what we ought to be looking at in a fight, are three things: first, competitiveness. A competitive fight pits two fighters going back and forth at an even pace. Second, the fight has to be entertaining. Whether it be showboating, grandstanding, rope a dope, flurries and so on...Third, the fight must have drama. A fighter who gets up after a knockdown to win the fight. Drama comes in the way of a headbutt, lowblow, KD, KO, buckling of the knee and so on. The ref. adds to the drama and the judges as well. Berto/Collazo fight was competitive, entertaining and dramatic.. The fight could have gone either way, had the ref. not taken a pt. away from Berto. The fight was way too early for a point deduction. Berto showed us, that he's not yet ready for the next level. On a positive note, Berto stepped it up in the championship rds. and won the fight. Quintana vs. Berto, now that would be a litmus test. -- ShowDaBoxing
