What was your favorite fight or fights on June 21, 2008?

There were lots of fights on this past Saturday night. HBO had boxing after dark, Showtime had boxing and the UFC had fights televised as well.

I'd rather watch club fighters than any mma fight! that crap is so boring. and when they stand and trade its so funny because they have no footwork and no head movement and thats why they get punch drunk or ko'd after one clean shot! mma sucks!

Yeah I would pay PPV dollars to see Pavlik fight Hopkins or Wright. Definately not Mora.

Only reason I say Wright is based on styles that would make a better war for us to watch.and, the fact that everybody including you wanted Pavlik to clean up his division before looking at Calzaghe, why not before Bernard as well.
Winky fights straight ahead and has good D 2 as well as Pavlik it would be interesting to see if Pavlik can can put winky in reverse.
But, if neither man backed up.Then we got a fight worth the $50 bucks.

I think Hopkins and Wright would offer similar challenges to Pavlik right now. I think either would be the most skilled fighter Pavlik will have faced and would be tough on him. I would be interested in either fight. I think both would be big wins because neither guy has been soundly beaten in a long time. Neither has been KOed and that would be an incredible feet if Pavlik could do it. But, I think Hopkins would be a little bigger win right now because he has recently beaten right, and at this point in his career is a larger man than Pavlik. That would be a quality win against an elite, bigger guy.

I agree with you on the Mandatories.
Don't take me wrong though,With Hopkins he's a great BOXER but,at his age he's definently on the downslope. And,it speaks of what kind of warrior he is if he's still willing to get in and bang with these youngsters.I'm not saying he can't still get in and out fox Pav for 12.But it is what it is.
I myself would rather see a Winky vs Pavlik fight.
If the greater of the fights abraham vs pav can't happen.
I believe Winky has proven through his carrer he's got the better of the chin than Mora in saying that I don't think Pavliks gonna walk through Winky as he would do early with Mora.
But Lets keep it real, Mora is a jr middleweight and only has 5 Ko's in 21 fights. And he's supposed to come up in weight and try and bang with the bigger punchers.
He better stay with the Jr's before he gets knocked back into reality TV.
If that ain't playing is safe I don't know what is.Arums a joke.
Sturm should be the latter choice for Pavlik I mean he is at least ranked with the middleweights @ 160 after Abraham & Winky.I wish Pav would Man up and speak on his own.
It just bothers me when Champions are asked whats next and they tuck their nuts and reply it's up to their managment. And their managment comes back with a dude like Mora who's not even ranked with Pavs division has only 5 ko's to Pavs 30 and just f@@@ing not worthy.Although Pav did say he would fight Godzilla though.
maybe Arum thought he should tune up for godzilla with more of a Reality Tv fighter.
Seems Pavs managments Got a little koolaide in their blood.
I know Pavs real I just want to see him fight meaningful opponents before Kellerman pulls his card after his next fight and asks him if he's on a break or something.

Obvisously the Calzage fight isn't going to happend in the near future so you know I want to see Pavlik-Abraham. But, if that can't happend I think Bernard Hopkins or Winky Wright should be the next guys in line. If they can't make that happend I wouldn't be too irritated with Sturm or Mora. I read this article the other day. I think the Pavlik-Hopkins fight is interesting for the same reasons a Pavlik-Wright fight is interesting. I just think a Hopkins' win would be a little more impressive. Whether we like how Hopkins' fights or nobody have been able to just convincingly beat him up. I think if Pavlik could dominate him or even KO him his stock would go way up. I wonder what weight that fight would be fought. I pretty sure Hopkins' wouldn't have a problem coming down between 168 and 170, but if Pavlik wants the fight at middleweight I don't think it happends. I personally feel Hopkins' would kill himself to get back down to 160 and get KOed early.

Pavlik, fresh from an easy kayo of Wales? Gary Lockett, has yet to select his next opponent. Damned near everybody from John Duddy to Joe Calzaghe have been mentioned, and late last week word filtered down to the media that Pavlik?s promoter, Bob Arum, had been talking to Golden Boy Promotions? Richard Schaefer about a Pavlik-Bernard Hopkins fight.

Oddly enough, nobody seems to talking about Pavlik-Abraham?not even Team Abraham!
Ring Magazines Nigel Collins

Pavlik vs Hopkins
Does Pavs people feel thats a safer fight than Abraham or is that a build up 4 Calzaghe next or what?If he were to beat Hopkins where would that Rank him.P4P
especially if he were to stop Hopkins early.when Calzaghe couldn't.
Me Personally,If I wanted to watch The Fox and the Hound
I would watch it on the cartoon network for free.

But don't you think the public kinda decides who the champ is. It doesn't really matter how hard he worked and how much that belt means to Abraham, in the boxing world it doesn't mean anything. If the Pavlik fight can't be made I'm cool with that, but if he took a fight with Marquez over Pavlik that would suck. In me and a lot of boxing fans' minds Pavlik is the true middleweight champ and Abraham can't reach the top of his division until he beats him.

Miranda has better skills than Mayorga come on, Miranda is only losing 2 power punchers like himself-every1 else gets knocked out or they lose a decision. Mayorga gets knocked out and out boxed-he's predictable-Miranda is kinda fast and he was doing his thing-I thought he won 2 rounds before he was stopped.

The Pavlik fight was a test of wills and that's it-Pav comes in hoping he's the stronger fighter-it's a gamble he's been able to win so far. He comes in and simply pushes his opponent back, but he's open 4 good counters-he's still dragging that left hand.

I still care about mandatory's-understand he was suppose 2 fight that guy last Sat-but dude step 2 the side 4 the Miranda fight-now your saying we keep the mandatory waiting again cause a bigger fight can be made-that sounds like politics to me.

He already met with Marquez @ the post fight-shook his hand and said you're next-you think he should wait tell he goes back home and change his mind. These belts might not mean jack 2 me and you, but they mean alot 2 the fighters-this is their job and they work hard 4 what we call a paper title.

Both Pav and Abraham have fights coming up-the talk was early or mid 2009 before they fought. I don't think nobody is ducking anybody here-the fight is going 2 happen after the next fight. Let fans see them fight on the same night-that makes the anticipation crazy-just have patience

Taylor punched himself out long before the bell rang. If you watch the fight again he was getting nailed at the end of that round. His tank was on empty, 30 more seconds and that fight might have ended right there.

I think Abraham might give Pavlik problems though. He has short arms, hits hard with both hands & he can fight while going backwards and circling. I still think Kelly KO's him, but it will be an interesting fight. Miranda has absolutely no boxing skill, he is a pure brawler. He makes Mayorga look like Ali...

Who cares. Kelly Pavlik is the middleweight champ. Abraham's belt is meaningless.

Mandatories should not be an excuse if Abraham could get an immediate fight with Pavlik. To be perfectly honest I didn't even know Abraham had a belt until last weekend. The fact is Pavlik is the middleweight champ and whatever belt Abraham holds is irrelivant. Not saying he is because I don't know. But, if Abraham uses an ABC organization to avoid a Pavlik fight he can take his paper title back across the water and never return. I would have no interest in ever seeing him fight again.
