Below is a ‘ranking’ of the different boxing media and organizations, as it comes to recognition of the true undisputed champions and their top ranked contenders:

1) The RING magazine ranking system

2) Vacant (leaving this spot ‘vacant’ reiterates my opinion that nothing even comes close to challenging the RING rankings).

3) Vacant (just to ensure that the point above is clear).

4) The HBO boxing analyst crew of Kellerman, Lampley, Steward, et al. (no analyst group knows boxing like the HBO crews … and they don’t talk down to their viewers. They treat us like we are knowledgeable boxing fans. And they routinely recognize the RING rankings).

5) ESPN (there close to HBO, but because of Teddy Atlas, they cannot be ranked any higher … come on Teddy, Thompson over Klitschko? Were you serious?)

6) The opinions of any random collection of boxing fans

7) The IBO (they seem to not be as financially dependent on who is ranked where)

8) The WBC (when Jose Sulliman is away on vacation)

9) The WBO

10) The WBC (when Jose Sulliman is back in the office)

11) The IBF

12) A group of monkeys sitting at typewriters randomly typing letters in a non-coherent manner.

13) The Showtime boxing crew (as they do talk to their viewers as if they know nothing about the sport. It reminds me of how the FOX network felt it had to educate its viewers every week on the sport of hockey, while it had the NHL contract).

14) My mother … who, god bless her, couldn’t name three active boxers.

15) The WBA (I have never seen anything more ridiculous then a WBA top 10 list.

In Roy Jones Jr's hay-day, he was amazing. Everybody slows down and everybody's abilities deteriorate. He's still fun to watch, still draws attention, and you can't take his past away from him. He came back to prove to himself that he still had some of his old skills. We will never see the old Roy.

My favorite/Entertaining Fighters (I'm an 80 baby):
Pac Man-always entertaining.
The Greatest Ali-fought too long, but damn great.
Roy Jones Jr-all the weight classes, all the successes.
Golden Boy-America's Boy, Mexi-American.
Winky-entertaining in his own tactical way.
Diego 'Chico' Corrales-Warrior-RIP.
Hate to say it: Pretty Boy (born winner I guess):(
Kelly Pavlik-not gonna reign for a long time, but fun to watch.
Iron Mike was crazy! Angle creator, pure power.
Holyfield was the People's Champ-loved to see him do well.

I truly hate when people try to say he fought lesser competition. Look what the hell he achieved. Who else has done that?? All the way from mw to hw.

YALL MUST HAVE FORGOT!

EVIDENTLY SOME HAVE. HE WAS ONE MAD MOFO AT ONE TIME. NOOONE COULD EVEN WIN A ROUND AGAINST HIM FOR AWHILE. IF HE WOULD HAVE STAYED AT MW HE WOULD STILL BE KNOCKING EVERYONE OUT.

I think Roy is the best and my favorite fighter for many reasons, but here is the summary
Middleweight world cahmpion
Super middleweight world champion
3 time and undisputed light heavyweight champin of the world,
heavyweight champion of the world
Those are accolades that are diffucult to dispute, and his talent spoke for itself, my favorite fight , kinda funny, is actually the first Tarver fight. He won that fight with his heart and desire,,and pulled it out in the end. So to the Roy haters, hate that.

Tszyu of course is one of my favorites, but the one boxer I've enjoyed watching the most over the years, and am waiting for ESPN Classics to air a marathon of his fights, is the incomparable Hicklet Lau.
