If Jones and Calzaghe end up fighting what do you think the result will be?

I hope this fight isn't coming too late in their careers and that they can put in a great show.

hats off to hitman hatton
overall he controlled the fight with a level of pace judgement and solid jabs I havent seen before. he was a little more patient and his extra power overcame the magic man. hatton is just a bit too big for paulie which is why hatton can compete at the weight level above this

Im not a huge hatton fan and believe floyd would school him again if he is 80% fit. but respect os due ricky took a chance took a new trainer and spent 5 weeks in the desert and got rewarded.

so who next>?

I know it's off topic but to continue the Hatton/Malinaggi discussion Hatton obviously did much better than some of us (myself included) expected.

It seems to me however that Paulie must have went into the match with an injured right because he hardly ever threw it.Of the very few rights he did throw,he did hurt Hatton with it at one point.

Yeah,Paulie has no power but I still think he could have won that fight with a better game plan;Staying at ring center, circling around, avoiding clinches, and yes throwing rights.

For sure, but I see Hatton winning S/D.
( Probably closer in reality to a draw , or Paulie winning, but losing a political decision. )

I see Hatton K.O.ing Paulie , but don't see Paulie K.O.ing Hatton. Although he could , via accumilation , I see Paulie fighting a safer fight , content to fluff his way past , which will cost him , in the public's & judges eyes.

Dana White , UFC Pres , said it best.
Basically , he would rather see a guy go out in a blaze of glory, than win like a fluffy B3TCH.

Most boxing fans ( Using me as a barometer , of course :( ) feel the same.

His best fighter , Anderson "The Spider " Silva , is more fluid & technically superior & better conditioned than anyone , but he is also an extremely effective & devastating stryker.

On McCllelan & really Nigel Benn:
I actually had McCleelan winning the fight when he was hurt. Infact , the dilema was apparent when he couldn't continue , because I thought he just given Nigel Benn the business.

Benn on the other hand , "The Dark Destroyer" was a devastating puncher , with a high K.O. ratio early in his career.

Damn near , if not %100. Mike Watson was in trouble against him. Often & early.

Didn't look like McClellan rolled with the punches enough. Benn punches could hurt any human being , seriously, if the right punch lands in the right place , at the right time.

Either way, "Big Upz!" to McClellan , & " 'Nuff Respect!", to one of many of Boxing's fallen warriors , who are all to forgotten after the roar of the crowd dies down.

As dumb as it sounds, for a while I hated Benn for hurting McClellan , but I was young then & McClellan was one of the best , back when he was my favorite fighter of the time.

In all divisions.

He destroyed John "The Beast" Mugambi. Destroyed Julian "The Hawk" Jackson for the title. Out classed & destroyed 2 Jabroni's , ( One in RD1 , who never landed a single punch , the Destroyed "The Hawk" , RD1 , which was even a worse can of whoop azz , than the first time.

Unbeliavable , @ the time.

No fluff in McCllelan @ all. He didn't even know it could exist.

Even what I would call the FLUFF" fighters of thier era , still came to fight & win by K.O..

I think I agree that pauli will win. But Im basing my opinion mostlyt on his cotto display and wont pretend to have studied his skil;ls enough to place a bet on it

hatton is not technically skilled compared to greats but is strong and willfull with reasonable power maybe stronger than paulie so many outmuscle him

either way i LIKE PAULIE skillful fighter with guts

I see Paulie/Ricky going the distance and the guy doing the most work getting the nod.

I'll go with Paulie by split decision.

I finally watched the fight and was speaking with a friend about it who commented that Roy's hand speed in his prime was better than Calzaghe. I agreed with the point but what is impressive with Calzaghe is that you combine his very good hand speed, the angles he takes, his level of punching activity and overall ring generalship. Even his defense reminded me a slight bit of Bernard Hopkins - rolling with punches and using his shoulders to protect his face (when he wasn't mugging/clowning of course)

Calzaghe did better than I thought and looked better than I thought he would. It's not enough to make me wanna see him again however. Unless its Johnson or Dawson. Then I'm down.

Joe C is a definate first time Hall of Famer.
Nigel Benn in his 22nd fight was KTFO by a jab from Mike Watson. First time I ever saw that in my life.
