With all this talk about this being his last fight and probable opponents, I would like to know who the members think he should fight and why? We should take a poll or something and see who the top picks are.

There's no doubt, that Oscar is good for boxing but the Forbe's fight tells us otherwise. In that fight, he got nailed by a soft puncher. His best days are behind him. Now, that he's schedule to fight, in Dec., what many are calling, David vs. Goliath on PPV, it only shows his greed. The fighter that he really should have fought is Margarito and an exit fight against Trinidad.

Well said, and I have to wonder if he gets pressure not to retire for this reason. It seems like he's been fighting forever and should have retired long ago.

I don't think the women are coming. I doubt they are getting off on Oscar anymore than real boxing fans are. Oscar is slipping in popularity.

Its beginning to seem like many of the name fighters at golden boy productions are turning into the party guest who won't leave.

It really doesn't matter who De La Hoya fights whenever his final fight actually happens. Oscar puts asses in seats it's obvious he can make a big fight against anyone-even so called boxing purist will tune in.
Honestly, I'll watch as long as he's not fighting on ppv. The funny thing is when people start talking about him saving boxing, now that remains to be seen. IMO, which really doesn't matter, he's just another Arum, Shaw or King. Oscar was the 1st promoter to charge $50 plus for a fight but like I said no one really seems to give a shit what he does.

Half fighter, half promoter, he can still seduce those women and their significant others to put up 50 or 60 bucks to watch him fight on TV without having to take a big risk.
Boxing purists may cringe, but when fight time comes they?re usually watching, too.
That?s why De La Hoya won?t retire after this fight, despite promising repeatedly before that there was no way he would fight past the end of this year. Win or lose against Pacquiao, there will be another opponent to pick, another story to sell, and another fight to promote.
Why quit now, when the women are still coming and the money is still flowing.

i think the la hoya should retired why he wants to get the recognition of mexicans if he beat many by tko he is going to be big but he doesn't have the rispect from mexico why because he should fight vs good fighters from his division not pick up fights with smaler fighter i rades have the respect by fighting the best and that is margarito , cotto , poul williams , they are the competition and the la hoya wins by tko on 9 round or 10th

Not sure about that one kid...I think Diaz's modest power and lack of movement (i.e. foot) will always make him have trouble with the hard-pressing, harder-punching Campbell.
Yup. Campbell has Diaz' number IMO.

Oscar should fight Vernon Forrest or one of these good welterweights. He has no business fighting Manny and I am not buying the fight... hard for me to resist but I will not becaus it is ridiculous and strictly about money for both guys. Oscar has all to lose and nothing to gain by doing this fight. I hope Manny whoops his ass and I have always been a Oscar fan...
