Lopsided? Morales won the fight. Hometown decision is what happened.

YourMaster picks Diaz by lopsided win and a valiant effort from Morales.

Vasquez win a hardfought and extremely close UD, possible draw is at hand.

YourMaster says look for the factor of Vasquez's nose that might dictate the final outcome of the fight.

What a horrible broadcast. It looked and felt like I was watching the fights on youtube and not PPV. I usually say something negative about the commenating during the course of the fight especially the poor attempts of poetic analogies by Larry Merchant but I have to say last night I missed them. I didn't realize how much of a role HBO commentators play into my enjoyment of broadcasts until last night. Not to mention the lack of camera angles and Michael Buffer telling the DJ to shut up so he can announce the fighters even proved this was barely a mediocre event for PPV.

I thought the Morales fight was close but you can see the wear and tear is Morales' performace. He doesn't jump in attacking as he used to and his speed around the ring is just gone. You can say his weight is the factor but I think his body is just worn out and him retiring is the best decision he could make in order to salvage whatever legacy is still in tact. Diaz seemed more hungry to win the fight in the final rounds than Morales and this might have cost him the fight especially in the 12th. Even thought they both fought their hearts out it looked like Diaz wanted to remain champion more so than Morales wanted to be champion. Had this fight taken place five years ago Morales would have steamrolled Diaz but I cn't take any credit away from Diaz. He looked hungry and I enjoyed wtaching him fight.

You are not 2 for 2. YOu never said that vasquez was gonna win and i looked that up. You said after the fight was over that you had a feeling that vasquez won that doesnt qualify as a good pick. You were on the internet obviously and probably already knew that. And i never heard you say that diaz would win. you just said a bunch of other stuff. and whats with all this yourmaster crap? Are you some kind of adopted lovechild or something?

It was a good fight tonight. I was 0 for 2 tonight but i am not surprised. Vasquez winning definitely sets up a 3rd match. Stoppage was somewhat premature though. If marquez doesn't give in and boxes he will dominate vasquez, unfortunately he gave in tonight. Morales looked good but i guess it wasn't enough. I thought he won a close fight but we know how it goes in boxing. Good fight though. Morales definitely left everything in the ring tonight. definitely hall of fame bound. Diaz looked good. but against a very old and past prime morales. He needs to fight casamayor so he can get the belt back. Anyways can't wait til next weekends fights. i'm going to them.

I must say the judgeing was terrible, emberassing, and an insult to boxing. I could not believe the judges scores cards. Morales knock Diaz down, boxed beautifully, showed great ring generalship, threw combinations, and displayed great defense. Not only did everyone see it, it also showed on the stats. It is heart breaking and another back mark to boxing to see this kind of unprofessional result. I do not know why boxing commissioners start penalizing these judges for these king of results. Some kind of probation up to including termination of judging needs to be put in place. I mean, where do they get these judges that never even been in a ring nor even thrown a punch themselves. What are qualifiactions to judge. I think eye vision should be one of them because I do not understand what these judges where watching in the Morales versus Diaz fight. Morales outlanded Diaz on everything and was the better man. The only thing everyone saw of Diaz is that he put on pressure that was not all that effective and he threw more, but did not connect due to the masterful boxing display of Morales. If these unprofessional judges gave the decision to Diaz because he threw more punches and if that is what judges are turning out to be, then Oscar DeLahoya should have won his fight with Mayweather. Diaz did not stop Morales from winning his fourth title, the judges did. Morales won the fight and should be champion ounce again. Again, I must say this is sick and bad for boxing. I really think they should start focusing on how they select judeges. If it is all about politics then boxing will die or unless they put a stop to bad decisions.

In case anyone missed it...here's a round by round:

ROUND BY ROUND: DIAZ VS. MORALES

PREFIGHT: Erik "El Terrible" Morales enters first to a chorus of cheers from the crowd. He appears to be in good shape. The champion, David Diaz, enters next to some slight boos. Definitely can't be a good feeling getting booed in your own hometown. "LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLEEEEEEEE!"
