One thing I can say about this match is WOW!!!!!

This entire fight was exactly the opposite of what I thought it would be. I was one of the many who thought that Pavlik would win this fight. I thought he would win on points. There were many who thought Pavlik would win by KO, which I heavily disputed.

I was sitting on the edge on my chair all night long after I seen B-Hop win the first and second round. I seriously thought that Pavlik was holding back to wait for Hopkins to wear him self out, but it didn't happen.

What I have gathered from this fight is a generation of fighters who truly know the sport, verses a generation of fighters who "think" they know the sport. Hopkins schooled Pavlik in every way possible.

Hopkins went into the fight knowing that Pavlik would expect him to play the "shell" game that he normally does, but he didn't. Hopkins didn't play his normal game and that is what won him the fight.

From this point, I am wondering what is left for the new blood of the sport. Do they learn from the truly "greats" or do they continue on their path of what they think is great?

** For the record, I thought Pavlik would win by points, but i was rooting for B-Hop, just like I did in the Hopkins/Calzaghie match! Furthermore...I think this is the year of upsets and I think Jones will school Calzaghie!

Well, He did it again. Same strat different opponet. The legend kills again. The puzzle still remains tho. How does he continue to do what he does?

Pavlik is still a great fighter as I said before this. He was going against the one fighter that traditional boxing dosent work against. I dont want to sound like a broken record, but B-hop nullifies jabs and solid shots. Played out just as i said it would except for a few changes. B-hop threw more punches than i thought he would, and he won 12 rounds instead of the 8-10 as i predicted.

The biggest exception is that he didnt get cheated on the decision. I was still sweating bullets until the first score was announced, and for that i am sorry. As a great man once said," I played to my fears instead of my hopes". " That everyone is fundementally good, and thier actions are bad at times not the person". Some of yall may remember me saying how hopkins would win the majority of the rounds, and still lose a close unanimous decision because he had made a racist comment before the Joe Cally robbery. I even went as far as to say that B-hop would not win another decision versus a white fighter ever again baised on how badly he was robbed in a fight where he knocked Joe down and won 8 rounds.

I now have renewed faith in the boxing judges. We dont need open scoring in blowouts like that, but I felt we should on expected close fights like this. In the end they got it right, and in dramatic fashion being dead on with the fans scorecards.

Lastly, im sorry for the money I lost on this fight. Although i picked hopkins to win a while ago, I didnt put a substatial bet in with 3-1 odds because I was afraid of the decision.

I'm not counting Joe out, I just think RJJ learned his lesson and has the skills and speed to beat Calzaghe. And I don't think Joe will catch him like Tarver or Johnson did and even if he does, it's gotta be the perfect clean shot. He's gotta earn major respect early in that fight to win.

You're right on point tonight Hate. The last time I counted a old fighter out was.... well you know. I don't think its safe to underestimate Jones either. If he can get a shade of his former self into the ring with Slappy Joe we might just see what we saw tonight. I'm done making assumptions that washed up legends can't get back in the game.

I think Jones lost a step without fully realizing it after coming back down so quickly and didn't want to believe it. He got caught with shots he wouldn't normally have gotten caught with in his prime.

But against Tito, he used more than just movement on defense. And if Hopkins can put Joe on his ass, Jones can.

Tarver or Johnson has one punch KO power either. I don't think RJ has a glass jaw, I just think he went for so long never getting that he doesn't know how to take punches. Either way, RJ hasn't won a meaningful fight in five years and he's getting in there with possibly the best fighter in the world. He's in trouble and as a longtime RJ fan I'm not going to order it to wtahc him get beaten up.

Tarver took Jones out in the second fight with pretty much one punch although that is not the standard. And as far as Jones not having a meaningful win you musta missed the Trinidad fight. :^O

I agree. This is exactly why B-Hop is still in everyone Top 5 P4P ratings. He was actually rated ahead of Pavlik on most. I completely agree that he should get a pass. Just like Ricky Hatton did when he lost to Money. Now, if Pavlik comes out in his next fight and has a performance like Hatton did against Lazcano, he will be done as a P4P elite.

Does a loss like this mean that Pavlik's status as an elite fighter is gone? Or is B-Hop just that good that we give Pavlik a pass on this one?

Kelly doesn't get a pass unless he shows the next time out that he just had an off night. Kelly is still an elite fighter. He just got beat. It happens to the best of them. What he does from here on out will determine if he deserves all the hype he got going into this fight. Winning the MW belt is not an easy task. Being undisputed is even harder. I'm not ready to write him off yet. Bernard showed signs of his former greatness. There have been a lot of fighters who couldn't withstand that test.

There's no shame in losing to Hopkins. But Pavlik, as much as I like him and watching him fight, his elite status was pre-mature.

He will get a pass for now but alot depends on what he does after this if he ever fights someone like Wright, Calzaghe, Jones. He's gotta learn a plan B and be able to adjust on the fly when he can't make his opponent adjust to him.

Joe doesn't have one-shot ko power. He's gonna find alot of air against a guy faster on his feet than Hopkins.

Roy's chin was exposed, but I think a little too much has been made of that. Even with all the natural talent he does posess, if it was as bad as some now think, it would have been exposed much earlier. And I'm not sure Joe hits a whole lot harder than Tito, but he will give Roy some problems.

But to win, he has to scare him and that means hurt him early and unexpectedly.

Man I'm not sure what to think anymore. I thought rusty old Vitaly would get exposed and he won. I thought Bernard would be too slow and he outquicked the youngster. This sport defies all logic. LOL. That's why its the greatest sport on the planet.
