After seeing Berto's last fight, who do you think he should face next?

I just like everyone else wasn't a fan of his holding throughout the fight, most of the time it seemed unnecessary and I think the Ref could have put a stop to it by penalizing him rather than just telling him time and time again. I also wasn't crazy about his cockiness and lack of respect for his opponent but I did think he did a good job of evading punches and looked sharper than he did against Collazo. Who would be a good opponent for his next fight? I think he needs a bigger challenge than what Urango brought but not sure of who I'd like to see him face.

Berto should fight a guy like a Zab Judah, a rematch with Collazo, or even Carlos Quintana, but he may go in over his head against Shane Mosley or Joshua Clottey instead. He won't get anywhere near Cotto, Mayweather or Pacquiao for a very long time, and not by his choice necessarily.

*** Berto should take a break & get back into the ring against a stepping stone next, like Zab Judah or Paulie Malinnagi or Ben Tackie. Berto's been active fighting 3 & 4 times a year, he needs to get in with a slick boxer that will make him think more and work a bit on defense than just fighting hard sluggers that will burn him out while on an active boxing pace like he's been having. ***

i couldint agree more quintana is the best guy for the job,,,zab judah best bet is to move down in weight and try to get his carrer bak on line maybe this next fight with the younger hatton will spark some heat with ricky. i think the matchup might be what they both need plus it be good for boxing.

Berto needs to do something. Collazo rematch, Zab Juda or Quintana shou;d be next but knowing Berto and his team they'll probably take on Chop Chop Corely next or try to get David Diaz to move all the way up to WW.

It's time for Berto, to get off the diapers and throw away the pacifier. Quintana is the litmus test, that is needed to test Berto. Quintana is technical and experience enough to give anyone a run for their money. Berto gets passed Quintana, then we can all have a sigh of relief, that he's ready to take on the elite, in the WW division. On the other hand, if he fails, then he needs to make the necessary adjustments in his training camp and possibly get rid of his trainer.

Just throw him in with a top name at welter so he can get his ass handed to him already. If he can adjust after the loss and comeback stronger than ever then we'll know we got a true warrior on our hands and that he's really serious about being a champ. We all know that he has the tools but does he really have the desire to be the best fighter in the best division?

I truly believe all these questions can be answered after he gets thrown in there with a Mosley or a Cotto and catches a serious beatdown. This is bullsh*t how a guy can get gift decisions and be able to be given chance after chance to prove he's ready for the bigtime. Throw him in there with a bigtime opponent and if he shows an extra gear or loses and comes back more lethal and more focused than ever then we'll all be happy (as boxing fans) in the end.

If he keeps fighting bums or B class competition and keeps giving weak performances then I'm with Bert Sugar as far as not paying to watch this guy give sh*tty hit and hold efforts. True champs come back stronger than ever after they lose, keeping a fighter undefeated by giving out bogus wins ruins the integrity of the sport and the competitive balance.

Lets see him in there with a bigtime opponent and see what he has. If he aint built for this then he aint built for this. Lets stop letting dudes like this hang around and rob the public of their hard earned dollars. If he really wants it we can find out, not by just getting crushed by top welter, but what he does after that will truly determine his true worthiness to the sport and to the fans.

I think any 1 with a name @ WW might beat him. Let's be honest most think Collazo won the fight-I think Collazo will beat him in the rematch-yall need to listen to B-Hop because he talks about media hyped fighters.

I remember when David Reid was calln out B-Hop and Hop said David wasn't ready-well Tito said bring him on-I'll fight him and just like Vagas and Campos his career went down hill from the beating Tito gave him. Berto doesn't seem to be ready for anybody-I think Zab Juda has a very good chance against him and I believe as long as Quintanna fights his fight he would defeat Berto.

I think it's very premature to compare Berto to a guy like Meldrick Taylor cause he'll never feel those shoes. Berto is a champion and he shouldn't be-Berto being a legitamate champ shows that boxing has some problem. It's obsurd when you have to constantly hear how a champion of a recognized belt is still learning.

Both Vargas and Reid were champs tryn to take on tough challenges well before their 20th fight-so what the hell is Berto's problem. Taking on Urango showed exactly how Berto's team saw the Collazo fight-they got cocky and stepped up and Collazo made them take 2 steps back.

lets be cordial, it was justa misunderstanding. Let the FM groupies behave that way.

not that you are behaving like them, but they tend to start trying rip into each ither and the focus of the convo is lost due to that.

berto's will face the music, next.

he is in a tough division and too small to go up, and will have to lose a lot off mass to go down, so he will have to stay there and be compared to bixers who are the best in boxing. He will continue to fall short for a few years.

I think that the Collazo fight back in january could have went either way honestly. I personally thought Collazo might have had it. 1 judge came with a ridiculously one sided score card for Berto. pissed me off. what you gonna do? I like Berto though, he has great speed. note how he kept getting behind Urango after countering hooks. I agree he could have held less and did the same type of job against him using his pure speed advantage. there were still some decent exchanges in that fight. not what I had hoped to see. the collazo fight was great and I think it left alot of unanswered questions out there. Berto did not decisevly win that fight and I believe the only fight that should be in front of him is a rematch against Collazo. its warranted and should take place. but we know how promoters can be when they have what they believe to be a star in the making so we'll have to wait and see.

If Berto gets by Judah, Collazo and Quintana he has no need to fight Hlatswayo. The guy is not even worthy of being called a contender. Thats a giant step backwards. He gets past all those guys and he needs to start thinking unification before all the big names leave the division and leave him fighting scrubs for BS titles and chump change.
