Were you as surprised as I was to hear Marquez wants Mayweather?

I was totally thrown off by Marquez' post fight interview claiming he wants to move up and fight the best pound for pound and saying that Pacquiao doesn't want to fight him but he's recognized as the best pound for pound fighter, so he wants Mayweather who is the best. I would love to see this fight happen, It would be good for many reasons, you have two very smart fighters who know how to make adjustments well. Marquez is a great counterpuncher as is Mayweather, I think it would be an interesting fight. I don't see it happening, but I would actually want to see this fight more than Mayweather Pacquiao.

To the last few posts-Cotto is gonna have serious problems with Clottey. The only way he wins is judges robbing Clottey. I don't think he has the kind of power that's gonna bother Clottey- a very skilled boxer.

To the subject, I wasn't surprised at all. With Pac-Hatton already a done deal, why not? He's waiting for one more shot against Manny, fought two much tougher opponents than Manny at 135 and should legitimately be considered as good as Manny or no2 p4p.

Might as well try the Hatton trick and see if it works while he waits. Even if he loses to Mayweather, his stock doesn't go down that much. It just means he has to wait that much longer to fight Manny. Too bad he's not as rich a fight as Hatton or Mayweather might have taken him up on his offer.

Having said that, it doesn't make for a very entertaining match-up. A very intelligent counter puncher against a great defensive counter puncher makes for alot of waiting around for one guy to throw the first punch in each exchange.

The fact that Cotto will make his own shots, might be the reason the fight happens. I don't like Arum but he did have a method to his madness!!

The only way Oscar fights Cotto is in the next video game that has both fighters in it. The chances of that fight happening now is like little mac actually fighting Mike Tyson. I don't know Cotto personally, but he's fighting Clottey next so that means he's out to prove something.

Cotto seems like he wants to be the best and fighting Oscar doesn't seem like the route he's thinking about. Had Oscar defeated lil pac-then yeah it was a strong possibility, but now-I don't think so. He's getting set to leave the puppet master soon-so that means he wants to be his own man-he wants to be boss.

Oscar needs to leave the young guys alone-retire or take on 1 of the other vets and then retire. Tito, Quartey and Forrest will get him mad props-but the Berto's-Collazo's, Cintron's, Cotto's ect-he just needs to leave alone. Fight Tito-the 24/7 would be crazy-then get the hell out of dodge

Everything you said makes sense, but this is De La Hoya we're talking about. I've said he needed to retire also but he said he's going to continue fighting. This is the guy that has been taking big fights his whole career, so I don't see anything changing now. If he gets the money together, and the fans, then the skies the limit as it always has been. If he wins his next fight he'll be in against someone he shouldn't be the fight after that, watch!!! Remember, you heard it here first.

Oh, I agree with 100 % Mannmann...I was just joking about him fighting Yory Boy again. I think Oscar should get his final good bye and fight someone like Tito, Quartey or Forest as well. I would've loved to see Oscar against Cotto but I know that was just me dreaming...that fight would never happen...especially now.

I actually wouldn't be suprised if this fight comes to life if Cotto passes Clottey. Oscar will fight probably twice in the next year. If Floyd does come back and fights the winner of the Pac/Hat fight at the end of this year, that'll only leave Cotto as a great fight for Oscar. You know he fights a tune up after a loss and then gets right back to a big fight. I could be dreaming also, but it doesn't sound that far fetch. Cotto will fight him for the money and Oscar will fight anybody to try and prove he's something he's not!!(A Great Boxer!!!!!)

Mex, what we need now to have PAC get KTFO is
ZORRO. He is the only one left who could do it for us.

he doesn't need one punch power. No one needs one punch power to win. all you need is enough power to make a guy pause an instance then you catch with a second and third blow and flurry.

While I'm rooting for Hatton, what CARGIB is saying is very true. You don't need to KO a person with one punch...there's special fighters who can do that but all you really need is a solid punch to stun someone and then finish him off if you're a fighter who's agressive when you see your opponent hurt (which Manny is like that). If Pac sees his opponent hurt, Manny will more often than not try to finish him...someone needs to play possum on his ass and catch him on the way in...maybe Hatton will do that. I really want to see Manny get KTFO

Oscar should pick a fight the fans would LOVE to see for his final show...he owes it to the fans...you're right, the PacMan fight really back fired on his ass and like I said...he should've never done that fight because it was a lose/lose situation for Oscar. If he beat Manny, he was suppose to Oscar was the naturally bigger man...and if he lost (which he did) its embarassing for him to lose to such an apparent smaller man.

COME ON GLODEN BOY - GO OUT LIKE THE TRUE CHAMPION THAT YOU ONCE WERE - MAKE A FIGHT THAT WILL MAKE THE FANS WANT TO WATCH - ONE LIKE THE OL' DAYS!!!!!!!!!

They already fought on ppv a few years back when Campus was washed up then. Yup Oscar charged fans $50.00 bucks to see him in a sparring match-Campus did nothing, he barely even threw a punch and Oscar didn't look that good in that fight either.

For a going away fight Oscar should go out like a champ and fight someone like Vernon Forrest-he doesn't need another easy fight-see that's what he tried against Pac and it back fired on him as a matter of fact he tried that against Mosely in the 1st and 2nd fights.

He said it himself that he thought Mosely would be 2 small for him and in the 2nd fight-Mosely just got a terrible beating from Forrest then he loss the rematch and a no contest vs the other Marquez-the 1 that Abraham just beat up. Anyway, Oscar thought Mosely was done-so he tooked the fight and it back fired on him again.

He should go head and fight a Tito, Quartey or Forrest and why not-fans would flock to any of those fights. If he fought a Campus-people would watch-maybe-but if he's going 2 fight again he should go out on his shield and fight 1 of those 3-their in the same age bracket and they came up 2gether-fans would love him 4 doing it and there's another mega fight from Oscar.

I was more surprised to read that Yory Boy Campas is still fighting! he lost his last outing but is currently at 94-14 , 76 ko's......perhaps this is Golden Boy's next opponent!

hahaha!

I couldn't believe it when I read it bro. Yory needs to hang 'em up, he should've done that after he was handed a beat down by Fernando Vargas...to me he was finished at that point.

Would be a nice FINAL GOOD BYE for Oscar...I mean its a fight that the Golden Boy should be able to win...maybe. LOL (and I'm not going to lie, I've been an Oscar fan regardless, but I'll still clown on the dude)

Absoultely right...who ever imposes their will and their style the longest will win the fight...that's how it works most of the time and I think that will be the case in this fight...there will be no surprise KO...I think if Mannys' imposing himself (skills/style) on Hatton Manny will win convincingly and if Hatton imposes himself its a BYE BYE Manny.

I'm not sure who wins this fight...but it should be a good one and one that true fans like us should be fired up for. I can't wait to see it either.

Hatton is a damn good pressure fighter-this isn't another bum-Hatton throws from all angles-he's good with uppercuts and even better with body shots. Pac is good but he's just a fast guy that gets away with alot of mistakes and it might be his down fall in this fight. I just can't wait to c it

Me either Mann. I was just thinking about their styles...Pac is the faster/quicker guy, but Hatton is more active. Let me explain, Hatton's movements in the ring are all geared twds gettn to u to inflict damage. Pac sometimes just bounces/moves cause of his AADHD!lol

They both throw from every angle imaginable, but in different ways: Pac's angles are punches in the middle of the ring; Hatton's angles are from the position of his body whether against the ropes or when he's in ur chest.

Whoever imposes their will & style the longest thru-out wins...
