Jones Unanimous decision over Calzaghe, if he decides to actually fight, Jones tko over Calzaghe in the 7th. Hope there is no glove controversy this time around. I think in the Trinidad fight, Jones felt bad just knocking Trinidad down and he was testing himself just to see how many punches he could block and roll with, and saw that Trinidad was not effective, he turned on the counterpunches. Jones will make a statement this time.

Roy Jones Jr. will start out fast and furious against Joe. Joe will let that energy pass and then stick it out until the late rounds when Roy (and his hands) get too tired. He looked tired early in the Trinidad fight and Trinidad fought at a pace that will be 1/3rd of Calzaghe's. Calzaghe KO in the 11th.

i really can c RJ giving JC a good whoopin. if he hits RJ with his best punch, and the punch does no damage,it'll b an early night 4 JC..don't think RJ just want 2 let the ppl know itz a big difference between himself and JC,he also want 2 show B.hop itz a big difference between the 2 of them also. so by him stopping JC,or beating him easily,he would have seperated himself frm 2 fighters n 1 fight. 1 great,n the other knockin on greatness door. wut better way 2 do it? i've not seen this RJ,n years. good luck Joe on explaining how it felt 2 cum n the garden 45-0,n leave 45-1..if RJ ko's,tko's,or just beat Joe really bad,he'll have alot more answers 2 answer than if RJ loses, wich of course he won't..Yall Must've 4 Got!

IMO the key to this fight will be Jones ability to counter, use his speed effectively, keep his hands up , stay off the ropes and back up Calzaghe. We can talk all nite on what he should or not do but it all comes out to desire. Jones can counter Calzaghe all nite. The right hand will be there for him to execute all nite. Jones needs to keep the action in the middle of the ring. Calzaghe can't throw pitty pats off the ropes. I'm picking a Jones win by a SD. If I'm right, watch Calzaghe Sr., jump up and down screaming bloody murder, that he had been robbed. LoL

Hand speed would not be in effect! I think Joe Calzaghe is hittable. And being hittable will cause him the fight! I think power plays a much larger factor this time than hand speed! And being able to avoid Jone's punch will be the only key to Calzaghe's win. However, Calzaghe's defense is not as good as his hand speed!

The effect of the punch is more important than the volume!

Round 5 victory for ROY!

>Joe Calzaghe has been a undefeated champion for a reason. He has never had to question himself before because of the lack of good fighters at the super middleweight division. Jeff Lacy was overrated and cant box.He did have problems with garbage ass Sakio Bika. His best performance was aganist Mikkel Kessler. I felt B-Hop did school him but he didnt punch enough.
Roy Jones does not have the same legs as he once had but he wont need them aganist Calzaghe. He can counter all night and after a dozen or so lead right hands and counter uppercuts(because Calzaghe leans in when he throws that choppin left) Calzaghe will back up and give Jones room and that is where the fight will shift. Jones will do his work and back Calzaghe up, Jones will put on a show and may even close the night out on Joe. I got Jones by either a closr decision or late Ko possibly the 11th rd. <

I still stick to my prediction:
Roy only had problems with fighters that can hurt him. He tends to be too concern gettin hit with power punches of REAL PUNCHERS making Roy's output less. But I think Calzaghe is not a power puncher and Jones will enter the ring full of confidence (unlike when he fought Tarver).
Good round 3-4 for Roy Jones and then a victory for Roy on round 5 via KO/TKO...

I think Roy Jones will own Calzaghe. And Roy Jones will turn on B-Hop for
Roy vs B-Hop 2...

@ C79:

In fairness to Glen Johnson, he is a good boxer. Did you see Johnson vs Dawson? Tarver isnt always consistent in his performance.

Calzaghe throws 'volume' and isnt known to be a hard puncher. He strictly relies on punch output. Throwing twice the number of punches against an opponent for as long as you're not knocked down or out will guarantee a win. Right?

I think you're right bout Trinidad lettin you punch at will, but you must take into consideration that Roy has a history of cruising to wins when he can. I doubt he truly tried to hit Trinidad half as much as he could have... he just wanted to cruise to the win. With Calzaghe he won't be able to do that, and I think that Roy will have to punch a lot more and he will.

well I knew this too but the thing is he landed when he could and when he though he had Trinidad hurt he did try to finish but that effort doesnt come close to the effort Calzaghe puts in day in and day out.
