Tributes to boxers who've passed away

Was reading thru this article today and it got me thinking. Many boxers have moved onto bigger and better things than earth over the years.

Are there any who've passed away that you thought got too much attention? And how about the other way? Any who've passed away but barely made a speed bump in the news or the boxing world?

Gatti is a war animal. He is in there just to show an all out war. He knew that's what people want to see and he gave it to the fans. There is no one like Gatti. They should just name him blood and guts.

Lets not forget about the many fighters that die around the world all the time in boxing whether it be from and accident in training, brain trauma or whatever the case might be. The Ring Magazine has a monthly section in the first couple of pages called "around the ring" I believe. And alot of the time it reads more like an obituary than actual news from boxing around the world. GOD BLESS THE DEAD

I still keep expecting Gatti to rise out of the casket and deliver a 1 punch knockout ...

Gatti- a true warrior in the ring. If his talent would have matched his will and heart, he would have been unstoppable.
Arguello- Great fighter who unfortunately is remembered most by alot of people for his losses to Aaron Pryor. Pryor just a little too big for ALex.
Forrest- Skilled and powerful. Class act in the ring and out. Never really got the glory because of his laid back personality but he was one heck of a fighter..

We are sad to report that former world champion Vernon Forrest was tragically and senselessly murdered at about 11PM on Saturday night in Atlanta during an attempted carjacking. Reportedly Forrest had stopped at a gas station to put air in the tire of his late model Jaguar when two thugs attempted to take his vehicle. Forrest had a firearm and a chased away his assailants but according to Atlanta police, in an ensuing firefight Forrest was shot eight times with semi-automatic weapons.

r.i.p gatti, if somebody deserved to die of old age with a full bank account, it was him. Not the best Talent but he gave it his all against ward and others. Same thing with Diego corrales, like gatti with ward, he did battle with castillo and look what happened.

a damn shame, i tell you.

I didn't even know that both Jerry and Mike
Quarry had even passed away until I heard
it belatedly in here. I used to watch Mike on
"Boxing at the Forum" on Friday nights on the
tube.

farewell Gatti. I'm totally taken back about about his passing. I remember seeing him fight on HBO. Boy, he had some fast hands against patterson. the fight with Rodriguez showed how tough he was and won the hearts of a lot of fans. A harbinger of what type of boxer Arturo would be. Gatti brought a lot of Electric excitement to boxing. Arturo vs Arguello would be a great fight. RIP Arturo and Arguello.

It has been a bad year for celebrities death: david carradine, ed mcMahon, farrah fawcett, micheal jackson, billy mays, steve mcnair, alexis arguello, arturo gatti, Ingemar Johansson.
