Undefeateds

What undefeated boxer do you think held onto that undefeated title by the slimmest margin?

Anyone you can think of that a decision was perhaps swayed in his favor because he'd gone into the ring without a loss to that point?

Anyone you view as a "weak" undefeated?

PBF continues to refuse to fight the best competition until it becomes unavoidable. In recent years, he refused to fight Margarito (ok, bad example, as Margarito probably would have won by cheating), Cotto at 140, then again at 147, Mosley, and now he's avoiding Pac Man. I see him losing to Pac Man before the year is out, since it's apparent that's the only fight the fans want from him...unless he "retires" again.

Arreola, I'm sorry, I'm just not sold on him. Maybe if he was to prove he's capable of training for a fight rather than going to McDonald's...but I see him getting KO'd (badly) should he fight one of the Klit's (which may happen in Sept, as the rumor is he's in negotiations with V. Klit) I'm not saying he won't hold a belt in a weak HW division sometime in the future, but it won't be in the next year or so.

Chad Dawson, really good fighter, but he was handed the decision against Johnson. Wouldn't be surprised if that's not reversed this time around.

ricardo "finito" lopez. had a draw with rosendo alvarez and in the rematch, lopez won by split decision so he was very close to losing the goose egg.

I liked Wilder, too, now that you mention it. I'd been having problems with my DVR and almost deleted that one unwatched and remember being glad I didn't.

I think people in this decade have put WAY to much stock in being undefeated. If you look at the G.O.A.T. All have a loss. At some point on the list you will run into Marciano who was Undefeated but I see him as kinda the Calzaghe of old.

All of them. If you look at the records of great
fighters in great divisions past you'll notice
more losses because everybody fought just
about everybody for a payday that would keep
you going until your next fight.....in about a month.
And sometimes guys would fight four or five fights
with several people.

Once you get more mega paydays involved, the less
fighters and their camps want to take a risk of
knocking themselves out of one of those opportunities
with high risk, low dollar fights. The more money a
fighter makes nowadays, the less likely the risking
entertaining matchups before the next maga-payday
is up.

Yeah, Mayweather is a weak undefeated. Has not fought the best guys and never will. He's a chump.

FLOYD MAYWEATHER: "I'D BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF MANNY PACQUIAO...AND HE KNOWS THAT!"

P4P King Speaks On BOXINGTALK EXCLUSIVE

Q: What made you decide to fight Juan Manuel Marquez? "He's been one of the top fighters in the world for quite some time on every pound for pound list. It's the best going up against the best and it gets no bigger than that. It's the USA Vs. Mexico."

Q: What would you say to the people who thought you never had marketability now that you've made yourself a household name commanding $15M for your comeback fight?

Floyd Mayweather Jr: "Everybody knows that I never discuss what my purses are, but this fight is going to be a tremendous success and it's going to be great for the fans. To touch on your question, I have a great team, who has great vision and L stays on the grind taking me to that next level and the mainstream world. And that's great for the sport of boxing because it brings more eyes to the sport."

Q:Why do you think people give Pacquiao so much more credit than you when all he did was move up in weight and take care of your left-overs?

PBF: "Because there's always going to be a double standard when it comes to me. People gotta understand that I set the bar so high that none of these cats can keep up, so they have to make it up as they go. They know damn well that Pacquiao is a good fight, but beating De La Hoya and Hatton? Been there did that."

Q:What was the toughest fight you've had thus far?

PBF: "I would have to say Emmanuel Burton."

Q: What are Marquez's best atttributes as a fighter? Can you break down what you see him do in the ring?

PBF: "He's a highly skilled fighter, who is a great warrior with a lot of experience. He's got great pride in his country and I know he's coming prepared. I have the utmost respect for him and what he brings to the table."

Q: How many more years will you fight for?

PBF: "It depends. My sole focus is on July 18. I have a tremendous challenge in front of me and I am preparing 100% and expecting a great fight from Marquez and I ain't looking past him. The fans can truly expect the best of Floyd Mayweather fighting all of the top fighters in the world."

Q: What did you think of Pacquiao's performance against Hatton?

PBF: "A very, very, good performance. He's a very good fighter, but he could never beat me. Ricky Hatton never listened to my dad, if he had followed my dad it would have been different, but he never listened from the word go. If we ever fought, I'd beat the shit out of Manny Pacquiao! And he knows that."

Q: Who else would you like to fight besides Pacquiao and Marquez?

PBF: "The top fighters out there know who they are and I don't have to call their names. They're gunning for me. My sole focus is on Marquez. I refuse to overlook because he's a great fighter and I've been off for 18 months and I have to be at my best to beat him."

Q: Are you looking to sign any big name fighters to Mayweather Promotions?

PBF: "We're always looking to working with the best out there. It's like everything else, you have to take your time to come up with the best result. I have a great group of young guys I'm working with now, including Jesse Vargas who will be the future of boxing."

Q: Do you ever see you and your father working things out and your father and uncle working things out?

PBF: "I have a very good relationship with my dad, we talk and hang out every day. My father and uncle have the same kind of relationship."

Q: Do you think you'll get Pacquiao before the year is out?

PBF: "Like I said, my sole focus is on Marquez and Pacquiao don't want it. His promoter could say whatever he wants about Pacquiao being the draw, but he's out of his fucking mind. Look at the PPV numbers for my last two fights. End of discussion."

Q: What made you decide to come back?

PBF: "This is for the fans. No matter where I went; the mall, church, hanging out with friends, everybody wanted me to come back. This is all about the fans and my sole objective is to come back and finish part II of the Mayweather experience and that's dominating all of the top fighters left to dominate from my era."

Q: Other than yourself, who do you think is the best pound for pound?

PBF: Juan Manuel Marquez. I saw him beat Pacquiao twice and his last two wins were great. I'm coming back to fight him because he's the best. Once I'm done with him Pacquiao and Mosley can get in line."

Money has always been what "prize fighting is about". Because fighters at the top make more of it these days they dont fight as much but their is more pressure to fight upper echelon fighter.

When the past fighters were fighter 6 and 7 fights in a month. They were not fighting elite comp all the time. They was fighting for a pay check. You said guys would fight 4 or five fights with several people. Thats hogwash. If Mayweather fought Hattton or DeLahoya 4 more times we would screaming for his head (not like some arent already) Only when fights are competetive do we beg for them like the great trilogies we have.

So no I cant agree with you not "all" undefeateds are weak.

Right on Luke, but Bradley is a real fighter. He got up off the canvas and really outclassed Holt. He will face anybody but he really impressed me with making his adjustments.

As for overrated undefeated in history, Joe Calazaghe, John Duddy,Dawson, Marciano, Andre Berto, Chris John.........Boobs..um Chris Arreola.

Overrated fighters period........This whole generation of fighters. I may be a cynic but I see entirely too many mistakes that the all time greats would capitalize on.

Underrated in history....Ali, Mayweather, Jones Jr, Holmes, Robinson, Nelson, Marciano, Monzoon,Pryor, Arguello.......this is all speculation but the greats rise to the occassion of facing the best.

This is true. The superstars are only going to fight twice a year, sometimes once. And a lot of the champions and top fighters will get in there three times a year at the most.
