I think Forbes is a stand up type of fighter who really believes in himself but unfortunately that won't cut it this time around. Oscar is a world class fighter with diminished skills that are still above the average fighters skill level and thats what Forbes is "average". and if you look at trainers...I think senior has it on Jeff for sure. Incidently, Oscar stopped Jeff Mayweather in the 4th rnd of Oscar's fifth pro fight in '93. ref stops it in the 7th-9th rnd by an Oscar flurry, forbes not being able to continue or protect himself

I have to be brutaly honest, up to this time I've sat back and read everyones thoughts on this fight, but for the life of me I don't see what all the fuss is about. Oscar is going to win hands down, nothing against Forbes but he was chosen for the sole reason of making Oscar look good before he meets PBF this fall. He is to small & doesn't have the power to make Oscar respect him. So enough already lets send the lamb to slaughter and get over with it. Big deal lets get ready for Zab-Shane, Cotto-Margarito, the fights that matter. Oh yeah one more thing that bothers me, someone please explain to me why does BHop have to be in everything. the man is so annoying. Either he's in a promo that has nothing to do with him or in the backgrounds always in the camera when either Larry or Max is interviewing someone. I mean I respect him but we have to be straight when it comes to him also, he lost to Calzaghe, please move on and let some else enjoy the light shining on them, go away BHop, please! -- Edited by rodzsquad at 05/03/2008 3:48 PM PDT

Every thing he did was for boxing, the number of chances he took. You haven't seen it until he came along.

DLH's HOF induction and legacy is assure. Make no mistake, he's fought the best of his era. What's keeping DLH from retiring? It's probably a combo of an ich, that needs scratching and the purse. He stands to make $$$ either way, win, lose or draw. It's an ich, that every athlete comes to term with. Do I still have what it takes to be competitive? I don't think that the competitive edge, factors in the decision to make a comeback. We are talking about athletes passed their prime. DLH is good for boxing. He represents the new face of boxing. The post Ali,tyson,Holyfield and Lewis era. Like or hate him, the Golden Boy is taking boxing to new heights. One thing is for sure DLH needs to lead, follow or get out of the way, so that younger fighters get the same opportunities. What do you guys think?

Oscar would have beaten JC in his prime. JC was very over rated, and won many controversial decision. Including a draw with Pernell that was a one-sided affair. -- Extreme HATING may cause constipation.

> It's official. Both DeLaHoya and Forbes each weighed > in at 150lbs. exactly. nice, Im taking a long shot (as i did with saying gomez would be a game oppotistion for cotto being that he fought bigger fighters but..well..you know) And saying that Forbes has a chance beng the short op. comming in at 150 gives him that low center power and could possibly workthe body and slide and punch but im not going to ryde his nutshe is probly going to lose, but lets give him the benifit of the doubt lol he used to be 2lbs -- <=-^-[Ray]-^-=>

Most of those guys were either old-stepping stones-2 small-controversial wins and a loss. Oscar didn't have 2 fight B-Hop-but I'd say 30 plus million would persuade just about any 1. Hell you have hit men killing people 4 20 & 30 G's. Oscar fought B-Hop and received over 30 million and we're talking about bravery. When I was young I said I'd fight Tyson 4 1 million-I knew I couldn't beat him-but I said it-I still settled 4 whooping his ass on Tyson's punch out 4 free. Majority of Oscar's fight's came @ the right time-I still say Vargas before the Trinidad fight beats a prime De La Hoya.

Drmenard, what was he supposed to do? go in there and lose to make the Mexicans happy and like him. although its true what you said, the logic behind it, is a crock of sh*t. Boxers go into a fight to win, not to worry about their opponent's legacy.

I'm not a big Golden Boy fan to say the least. But, I will say this... Oscar is a true fighter who has always been willing to fight . His resume is as impressive as anyone else's. not everyone he fought were in their prime but he did fight'em. john john molina raphael ruelas genaro hernandez jesse james leija julio cesar chavez( who only had 1 defeat when they fought) pernel whitaker hector camacho ike quartey oba carr tito trinidad shane mosley arturro gatti(before he was a shot fighter, although he was smaller than Oscar) fernando vargas bernard hopkins(it took guts to take that fight, he was rich enough...really didn't have to do it...but took the chance) ricardo mayorga( beat forrest whitaker twice ) not bad for a soft spoken cross dresser...he more than earned his right to the HOF in canastota NY

Oscar de la Hoya fucked up ROYALLY when he decided to fight an old, aged JC Superstar, the Patron Saint of all of Mexico. Thats why he is despised by an entire country. He does not DESERVE to carry the colors of Mexico into the ring. He accomplished what Marciano did when he kayoed Louis, or what Holmes did when he beat up Ali. Or Trvor Berbick beating Ali. Footage of that fight shows Berbick getting nearly booed out of the arena AFTER the fight, as the chants of ALI ALI were verberating through the arena. Oscar, were he to show up at a venue, where Julio Cesar ?Chavez Jr. was fighting would get booed the fuck out of the arena, and get about as much love as Osama Bin Laden. Tonite, we will all get to watch the Golden Farce on HBO (Home of Beloved Oscar) and we shall see Jim Lampley take manlove to new heights. Will he show up with his pom poms, is the real question.

Mayweather is the definition of the Sweet Science partner. I'm not trying to over kill your post, but Margarito, Arce and Pacquiao aren't really good boxers-their action fighters. Pacquiao has improved, but he's just a quick heavy handed fighter, not really a good boxer. Mosley has always been an entertaining fighter to watch, B-Hop and Wright were always boring, but their still good fighters. I just don't understand why every 1 has something negative to say about Floyd, some of yall just don't know how long Floyd was in the shadows-damn near 9 years. Oscar came out of the olympics making $500 G's. Oscar was always in the spotlight win or lose. Oscar has had his share of bad fights but his fans want to erase them from their memory. Oscar fight's vs Trinidad and B-Hop were bad fights imo. Oscar and B-Hop were setting up Golden Boy promotions before their fight so chill with the he's always fought the best. The only prime top guys Oscar fought were Shane, Tito, Ike, Floyd and Sturm-he lost them all with to highly controversial victories over Sturm and Ike. He was a good fighter and he still deserves Hall of Fame aawards, but he wasn't great-still way more hype than fight.
