"Denzel Washington spends more of his time these days as a movie star, but he is a tremendous actor when he chooses to be. His Malcolm X is still one of the great screen epics of all time." Absolutely. I always find it funny when actors are not fully recognized for their more involved roles then, in turn, regarded for their comparitively lesser works. Case in point: Denzel gettin the Oscar for 'Training Day' (a decent movie in it's own right) but not getting it for 'Malcolm X'...(was he even nominated that year? I think he was.) I also think that Halle Berry's performance in 'Dorothy Dandridge' was better than her performance in 'Monster's Ball', where of course she received the Oscar for that. Another actor with a great deal of talent is Daniel Day Lewis; his performance in 'Gangs Of New York'...that transformation was incredible. From the same movie, Leonardo DiCaprio's skills are tightening up too...his recent offerings in 'The Aviator', 'Blood Diamond' and 'The Departed' got my nod. However, at present, my hat is off to Forest Whitaker. I always knew that he had some ability...but 'The Last King Of Scotland'...?! Whoa! What a movie! A highly impressive performance...

"There are American women who can act, as well. Not just from the UK." I certainly agree with you, Duplicity....plenty of them. The original list that I had responded to in that post contained some great ones. The actresses that I had listed, however, were just a couple more that sprang to mind at that time of posting. The fact that they are all of British descent was merely coincidental..
