Tanalyst---I don't see anyone on that list that I wouldn't favor Pav over. I am also a big Winky fan, but his legs are shot. I think we know Winky cannot hurt Pav's good chin (see the Miranda and JT I fights)...Pav's heavy work rate punching down would eventually get thru to Winky or at least win on points. I love Winky, but I don't the way he matches up with Pav now that he has no legs left.

As far as Abraham, anything can happen with 2 sluggers in the ring, but I will take Pav and his straighter lefts and rights in the end....

All I'm saying is that If Pavlik stays at 160 for 10 years He might tie it. I can't see anyone beating him at 160. His only challenges are at 168-175.

Pavlik best wins were against Taylor and Miranda. Most of the people on this post were going Miranda crazy until he lost to Pav-yall say he was exposed-but lets 4get the fact that he was struggling to make weight. Most didn't think much of Taylor when he was champ. I liked Taylor but I still think his only decisive victory came against Kassim.

What makes Pav so sure shot-I like what I've seen in Abraham-call the 1st fight w/Miranda whatever you want-but he fought competitively for 12 rounds w/ a jaw broke in 2 places. No way does Pav go anywhere near B-Hop's record. I'm just looking 4ward to Abraham vs Miranda 2.

Who of these men could beat Pavlik at 160?

2. Arthur Abraham
3. Winky Wright
4. Felix Sturm
5. Sebastian Sylvester
6. Khoren Gevor
7. Randy Griffin
8. Javier Castillejo
9. John Duddy
10. Raymond Joval
11. Giovanni Lorenzo
12. Joe Greene
13. Marco Antonio Rubio
14. Amin Asikainen
15. Sebastian Zbik
16. Raul Marquez

I'm not sure if any could. I'd give Winky and Sturm a chance at outboxing him but that is about it. I think that Pavlik will be unchallenged at 160 and if he stays there may pass Hopkins in defenses. With that said this is the year of the Upsets. Lockett hasn't really been beat as far as I know. His only loss was a Split decision that could be argued a robbery from what I heard but I didn't see it. He has never been Knocked out so It would be interesting to put him in with someone like Pavlik but I'm not sure I'll be on the edge of my seat. I'm thinking Pavlik is going to try to end it.

I'm not positive, but i think Lockett is a mandatory challenger, and that Pavlik is just getting that out of the way. The idea behind the duddy fight was to increase Pavlik's popularity, given Duddy's strong following in NY. Obviously, that got screwed up when Duddy put on such a dismal performance in his last fight. Anyway, the big fight for Pavlik is against Abraham, which is going to happen in late '08 or early '09. So, in the interim he's staying active. As long as he keep winning, I dont think Pavlik is a guy that will dodge anyone.

Cotto/Margarito signed for July 27. Can't wait for that fight. Tough one to call. What does everyone think?

Let me preface this comment by saying I am a big Pavlik fan and will always be pulling for him. I just like the fortitude and will he exhibits--standing up to Miranda, getting off the deck against JT, etc. But I must say shame on him in one regard--he was so adamant after the Taylor fights that he was going to fight the best always and wouldn't take cupcakes "for the fans' sake and the good of the sport." I know it's the way boxing and promotions work to have some cupcakes, I just wish Pav would've been silent about it rather insisting he would always give the fans the best fights---and then signing on to fight Duddy and Lockett--please.

this is all i've seen:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=x-DIOL4DL1g

it's hard to tell alot from two rounds, and the guy in front of him was just an opponent, if u know what i mean, who was hardly throwing.....but it looks like lockett has a decent jab and fairly good handspeed, but he is flat footed and tentative, pavlik should get him out in four or five rounds

I agree with you that Taylor would probably beat Abraham and Miranda (even more so). I think Calzaghe-Pavlik would be a great fight, but I'd favor Calzaghe as per usual. Pavlik-Kessler would be a toss-up; I actually think Pavlik may be able to knock him out because of Kessler's straight-up style.

Anybody know anything about this Lockett guy? Boy, was I wrong on the Witter fight!!!

At Hollywood, Fla. (Showtime) Arthur Abraham vs. Edison Miranda, rematch, 12 rounds, super middleweights;

Any takers? Abraham is more comfortable at 160. and Edison at 168. Will Abraham take this on from Miranda again? or will miranda do what he needs to do with this on?

True, although Ponce has the chin and the will to take JML punches, eventually he'll catch JML with a big left and GOOD NIGHT!

i just rewatched de leon vs. bautista, and de leon was very wide and wild, he still has very heavy hands, some speed and the ability to maybe catch JML but i dont see it happening, i see him getting outboxed, and maybe even knocked down/out

Problem with Miranda and Abraham is neither is fundamentally sound and both will be exposed by good fighters that throw straight punches and have a decent chin/defense--hell I'd probably even bet on JT to beat both of them. BTW, if I was Pavlik, I'd be afraid of matchups Calzaghe and Kessler.....I think Pav beats everyone else right now.

Lopez looks like a future star and when I 1st heard of this fight I was like damn, maybe it's just a little 2 soon 4 Lopez 2 fight a guy like De Leon. I know a couple of fighters they were trying to make into stars-but they signed contracts 2 fight Ponce and their star fell. I just can't call this 1- I like what I've seen in Lopez, but I've seen Ponce more and he kinda grew on me.

Oh and I wouldn't be surprised if Pavlik lost-he's alright-but I don't see him reigning longer than JT did when he was MW champ. Lockett is being slept on and that might be a good thing. I still would like to see KP pull it off, but not without digging down deep to pull it off 1st.
