Dawson vs Calzaghe if it happens who wins and why?

There's been a lot of discussion about this fight and even though it probably won't happen, I'd like to see what the board thinks.

I'd venture to guess that Calzaghe would win a tactical, boring fight against B-Hop, were they to rematch. You know my take on any fight w/Chad and he. Another interesting one would be, Calzaghe against Glen Johnson (and you know Glen would travel there!)...relentless pressure and physical strength against relentless counter-punching and flurries. That would actually make for the best fight of the three mentioned, stylistically.

I agree,Calzaghe has had trouble for awhile now sitting on his punches.
Something ,I feel he would have to do especially against Dawson to get the respect to get off with his not so powerful point earning flurries.
If Dawson gets comfortable and feels Joe can't hurt him with those slapping flurries he may feel he can walk through them and counter with his own hard flurries.
On the contrary though Joe could also bait Dawson with the slaps shots let Dawson get comfortable and drop some hard shots to shock him and get him in trouble.
I think anybody who really knows Boxing knows this would be Calzaghes toughest fight and also know Calzaghe is a very live dog here as well .Calzaghe could very well give young Dawson his first L.
I would like to see this fight but given Calzaghes age and Hopknis last performance I would much rather see Calzaghe/Hopkins2 also since that fight ended with a SD it wasn't a clear cut win. This should be a farewell fight for both to go out with.I know I'd buy it.

Glen Johnson gives EVERYONE trouble (sans B-Hop early in his career). Styles make fights, and Dawson's style (i.e. height, speed and youth) will significantly trouble Calzaghe. Period.

Calzaghe will slap his way to victory against Dawson.

Dawson barely got past Glen Johnson (who isnt as fast as Calzaghe)! Man up, Chad! Let's see Johnson/Dawson II!!!

The Calzaghe Jones fight didn't do shit because fans that knew better knew what it was. That fight was horrible 4 Jones-just like the golden boys last fight was horrible 4 him. With the exception of Hopkins-these younger guys have shown no respect what so ever going against the much older guys-Dawson vs Tarver, Pacman vs Oscar and even though Joe is barely 2 years younger than Jones-these old guys need 2 leave while they still have all their marbles in tact. I don't get why fans are trying to hype up Dawson vs Calzaghe-when Dawson needs to rematch OLD ASS Johnson 1st. Beating Tarver again does nothing-the Johnson fight should be much bigger considering how good it was-I don't get it-most fans don't like Tarver-I don't kow 1 person that likes him-even though I think he's alright-it's just me. Johnson is the man to beat @ 175-guys need to give him a chance because he's 1 of the best-he's alawys ready-I just see Joe beating him by @least 8 rounds to 4.

Alright guys-once again-check out these fighters age's before we bring the age thing up. Calzaghe is freaking 37 years old-I mean the guy is freaking 37-is it his fought he's better now than when he was younger-that's a good thing anyway.

Oh yeah-check Dawson's last couple of fights-he's on a senior fighters path 4 real-Dawson is what in his freaking mid 20's-he's fought old ass Harding-old ass Johnson-who's the same age or older than the much older Clazaghe-then he turns around and fights old ass Tarver.

To make the senior thing more crazy he's going to rematch a 40 year old Tarver a old dude he dominated in his last fight. Cazaghe doesn't have shit to prove by fighting Dawson-he doesn't need that fight @ all and I 4 1 wont hold it against him, but I do think he needs to fight Johnson. I only say that because he pulled out of a couple fight against him already, but hey-he's pulled out of like 2 fights against Lacy 4 those that didn't know.

Stop favoring guys all the time-Calzaghe is just a damn fighter-just as he could've fought Roy and Hopkins-if he came to the states-if they wanted him soo bad they would've went over there-DAMN.

I thought Dawson beat Johnson-but he had a very hard time doing it-I have to believe Calzaghe beats Dawson by UD-Dawson can't keep up with him-you guys need to understand Calzaghe is the truth plain and simple-the guy can fight his ass off against mandatory's and especially against the elite fighter's. Dude is a couple of years younger than B-Hop and Jones.

All I keep hearing yall say is Dawson's victory over Ademek is soo much better after the Cunningham fight-but what about Cazaghe's over B-Hop-B-Hop turned around and schooled the shit out of Pav-but I haven't heard shit about that.

Anyway, Calzaghe beats-both Dawson and Johnson imo-I really would like to see him give Johnson his chance and then retire if he wins-if he FINALLY lose-then the rematch would be crazy.

Calzaghe is a big draw in the states-but Americans want to see him in a fight they feel he'll lose-trust me the Johnson fight would bring in numbers if promoted right.

Dawson by decision (unanimous in the States, close decision in the UK). I doubt he'll stop him because Calzaghe has found ways to not only survive against bigger punches, but he's also often domintated. However, the keys to a Dawson victory would be his speed (he may have faster hands that Joe) and his height/reach (he appears to be the longer man). And he's below 40 years of age (smile).

I thought both Hopkins and Jones had legitamate chances of winning and I was right about Hopkins. I didn't know Roy was that far gone. Hopkins could've won but didn't fight the right fight so he lost, shame on him! Dawson looks like he could stop Calzaghe. I'm not going to jump on any bandwagon and say that Calzaghe would get killed but most of the signs are pointing that way. If Calzaghe wants to silence all doubters then he'll fight Dawson. He really doesn't have to because if he beats him then they'll be someone else there that people will say he needs to beat. Mayweather knew that that's why he retired!!

Hopkins I thought had a shot. Jones didn't. Not even close.

It would certainly be consistent with Calzaghes character by avoiding top competition

O.k guys, I've been slated and ridiculed for merely reporting that "Carl Froch" was serious about fighting Joe Calzaghe.

I think you'll all be hearing more about a certain $12M offer from Froch.

Now can Dawson, or anyone out there compete with that offer ?

$12M cash and beamed into every home in Britain on TV for free ...................... if I was retiring, then I'd say offers pretty much don't get better than that.

Calzaghe could bow out in style .....
