I was reading an article from Ring Magazine where Malignaggi feels like he's being set up to lose this fight because of all the concessions he's having to make. Which fighter do you think will take this?

Oh MAN! Thank you HBO for reminding me why I rarely watch boxing. 1. Malignaggi got robbed 2. Gale Van Hoy should be banned from judging for life EXCEPT THAT 3. Boxing is such a corrupt joke he fits right in 4. I don't like watching running pitty pat fighters BUT 5. As long as the rules are what they are, MAL got f***ed. I don't care if a judge likes a guy's style, WHO WON THE FIGHT UNDER THE RULES? 6. I have no problem with Paulie's tirade after the fight. It's the man's job. He spent months preparing for this, did a great job even with all the obstacles set up by Golden HOY, and then this? I actually applaud his restraint. I used to love boxing, but after a few of these, I almost never watch it anymore. I have no respect for the vermin who have run it for decades. It's nothing more than an ongoing criminal enterprise. Which sadly now includes Oscar De LaHoya. I lost a lot of respect for him now too.

I cant believe the outcome of the fight this might have been a cheap low standard win for diaz and his promoters , and houston fans, but a loss for boxing as a sport, and a loss for boxing fans across america and the world, Anyone who say that fight is outraged by the score cards!!! As a fan it makes me not want to watch another boxing match!!! As for Malignaggi i would love to see him fight again over diaz any day he was the quicker fighter he controlled the fight and hit diaz at will!!!!!!

Paulie was 100% right it what he said and if nobnody gives him a title fight he'll be better off not to take it because it will be fixed anyhow! Your right he may not get a fight. He should leave boxing all together and take as many with him as he can because they don't deserve a man like him who speaks the ugly truth about boxing! P. S. boxing is B.S.

This is why I don't like boxing as much as I used to. 118-110??? 116-112??? I'd ask which fight they were watching, but I don't think they were watching ANY fight. I think they were watching the West Coast airing of Max Payne. NOBODY who saw that fight could possibly agree with those scores. If this is the outcome of Golden Boy Promotions, then I agree with the poster who likened it to Don King Promotions. What's worse, DeLa Hoya would still be whining NOW if he were completely ROBBED like Malignaggi (who, pun intended, was maligned) was last night. He is absolutely right. Boxing is B.S. Especially in Houston TX if you're fighting a hometown fighter. What's even worse is the fact that the HBO announcers showed no balls AT ALL. If you're going to promote a fight, then commentate on it, at least be fair in what you see. It was obvious who got robbed, and HBO's shills didn't have the balls to just come out and say it. At this point, if it wasn't for Bill Maher and Entourage, I wouldn't even be watching HBO. I CERTAINLY won't be watching any more boxing. It's called Boxing AFTER Dark, not Boxing IN THE Dark. We all saw what happened. If we can't count on cable to have balls, what's left? I'm off to watch Nurse Jackie now. Screw you, HBO, if you can't comport yourself better than this. You can't call yourself real, then stand behind the fake nonsense (in the form of your weak announcers) that this fight was and not say anything substantive afterward. Malignaggi would have had to stab Diaz to win that fight. Completely deplorable! -- Edited by RawData at 08/23/2009 4:33 PM PDT

You don't need math when you can clearly see who won that fight! Boxing is bias and is full of prejudice. How can you get a fair fight when fans and judges just root for there nationalities and hometown and not for the better fighter. This is why Boxing sucks and they don't have the fan base the use to have and nobody knows that better than Malignaggi he said it himself "boxing sucks!" Its only better for the true fighters in MMA to steal the spotlight and the fans from boxing. The announcers suck and the fights are fixed. Take off the pillows from there hands so theres a knock out in every fight like a real mans sport. MMA RULES! BOXING IS FOR WUSSIES!

At a time when so much good talent is becoming involved with MMA; a tragedy like this judging fiasco truly damages the credibility of the greatest sport in history. The powers to be should become involved. Mal did not handle himself as well as he could of but..we all have mis-spoken at times; he had/has a legitimate gripe. I saw Teddy Atlas almost blow a gasket at another HBO fight over a very similar poor/ bias judging . For the fighters to display this level of commitment and dedication to achieve this level of competition it is criminal not to have good/un-bias officials.

"With regard to Paulie's strong commentary: Paulie has always been an emotional man, and he had some strong cause to be upset, I only wish he would excercise some restraint in his language...At the same time he DID offer his praise to the city of Houston and it's boxing fans" You have to remember this fight for all intents and purposes was a career ender as far as anyone looking at him as being a prospect to fight anyone (or ever even have another shot at the title). From that point of view, I don't think burning any bridges really hurt him. Like he said its not like someone like Marquez would ever give him a shot at this point. And why shouldn't he say that boxing is B.S. if it is. At least we know the fans and the fighters both are coming towards a consensus.

I had to laugh...that level math is taught around second grade. It appears you missed out on that. Maybe while you learn math, you might learn how to judge boxing. > > I had the fight 150-110 for Diaz. > > > > My uncle had it 148-110 for Diaz. > > > > Say what you people like, my cousin, who was not > my cousin until today, won the fight! > > > * > > MAYBE I SHOULD HAVE WRITTEN IT THIS WAY! > > > > > *

I enjoy BOTH boxers, and have seen most if not all of their recent fights. After wathing the fight last night, I had to agree with the concensus that Paulie deserved the decision in a close fight. In all honesty, I had expected Diaz to dominate, and was happy to see Paulie do so well after the consessions he made to make the fight happen. In watching the replay of the fight, it was clear that even the 4 from HBO had the fight extremely close throughout but leaned to a Paulie decision, even making mention of the Texas judging possibly having the score favoring Juan. 118-110 is criminal and 116-112 Diaz is borderline criminal. BOTH judges should be placed on probation and reviewed. If there continues to be decisions like this and a few others recently, boxing fans will peel away in masses. It is discouraging to see a great fight be so ruined by criminal judges. With regard to Paulie's strong commentary: Paulie has always been an emotional man, and he had some strong cause to be upset, I only wish he would excercise some restraint in his language...At the same time he DID offer his praise to the city of Houston and it's boxing fans. A GREAT fight to watch but disappointed in the result, NOT becuase I like one fighter more than the other, but because I like boxing.

Very sad night of boxing last night as the fighter of record malinaggi called his lose before he even stepped into the ring.A very close fight was turned into a mockery with scoring that represented who was supposed to win the fight rather than who actually won the fight.Shame on HBO,Golden boy promotions,The judges involved,And the announcers- who seemed more shocked by malignaggis outburst than by what actually happened in the ring! Here is an idea HBO-you have a show called real sports that is suppose to investigate things in sports that the media doesnt cover, and you ran a boxing special of a fight that occured over 20 years ago.......why not get these people all together and have someone investigate what happened last night on your own network!!!!!!!!!

Golden Boy Promotions is the incarnation of Don King Promotions. Oscar De La Hoya is the second coming of Don King. Corrupt, powerful promoters who have everyone under their pockets. Oscar is a hypocrite and a cross-dressing cherry picking fighter of an idiot. Malignaggi got robbed and it wasn't just the judges or GPP but also sanctioning bodies are corrupt. States should now come in since they are the ones that issue boxing licences but I'm sure even the state officials now are under the pockets of GPP (Oscar the cross dresser, B-Hop the ex-con thug and Shane the juiced up steroid user). I love Shane though but he juices and we all know it. -- Edited by Mzembe at 08/23/2009 12:57 PM PDT

I just watched the fight today and im just blown away by the decision.....completely. Mal stay's in close he loses and for a few rounds he got pounded...so he backed off and danced and jabbed like he was suppose to do. The announcers were silent after the call...you could just see it on there faces. Sadly Malignaggi could have dealt with it better for his career's sake during the follow up with the hbo interviewer...but i could feel his pain there. Sometimes sadly its good to bring a knock out to fights like this...because that was the only way he would have won. 118-110??? Are you kidding me?? -- Edited by zenphysics at 08/23/2009 10:34 AM PDT

Listen- ignorethe people who judge a fight or thier fighter before they even step into a ring- the discussion is directed towards real boxing fans. I am of Hispanic heritage, my gut always pulls for the hispanic fighter- but at the end of the day I am a boxing fan- This was a TITLE fight- Lets imagine game 7 of a World Series- game 5 of a NBA Final- The Super Bowl- Would any of these games use a woman Referee or Judge with no Title experience? I dont care to exchange words with people who just talk to talk- I rather put things into perspective- Boxing is turning more and more into a joke- What bothered me last night wasnt so much the decision- it was the three men behind the curtain that had thier hands in the actual setting up a ridiculous scenario for a title fight. I didnt think the three Amigos would do that to boxing- Don King never fought- was never robbed- never trained for a fight- but Golden Boy and his mates- really let us down- no more After Dark for me- ESPN fights and MMA for the time being.....

dingo, your humor is flawed. this whole thing is not funny at all. i hope your cousin is secretly paulie. over 1600 posts...i expect more from you. it's the texas commission and/or golden boy who are guilty. this isn't a video game or make-believe stuff, they're messing with real peoples lives. not good. 14.
