If Pacquiao happens to lose to Cotto

Do you think a Pacquiao loss will hurt boxing? I was just thinking that it would probably be a negative in the sport. If you look at how much attention his fight against De La Hoya and Hatton brought and how Pacquiao is looked at as the P4P best right now. A loss to Cotto might derail the momentum created in the sport. I could be wrong but I'd like to know what the board thinks.

Roach doesn't want his guy in with Floyd, nor do
Pacquiao's fans. They are trying to get a welterweight
to act as "policeman" and spoil that fight, "old school",
by beating Floyd before Pacquiao ever gets in the
ring with him....Money or not, Roach rightfully sees
a losing matchup for his guy and obviously doesn't
want the Mayweather fight.

Oscar wouldn't have done anything but get his ass whooped regardless of weight imo. I wasn't tryn 2 talk tough-I'm simply sayn sometimes yall complain about the size shit more than the fighters-these guys are professionals and I'm just tired of everyone making excuses for them.

Your right, weight classes are there 4 a reason, so after the weigh ins there shouldn't be a problem. I just hate hearing all this their 2 small or big crap-this is professional boxing-these guys train for months and study 1 another before going into a 12 round fight-so whatever the case that's on them-I'm not making excuses for some grown ass man I don't know.

Then it's not just the fighter-it's his whole team-that plays a part in the match making. Some of yall just go on and on about nonsense and over hyped fights-4 example-if Cotto is so spent-over the hill-ruined by Margarito then there's really no reason 2 get up 4 this fight then right? Pac is so great and Cotto is done-so why are yall always talking about this fight?

Also, there has been smaller fighters who have beat bigger fighters. This depends on how the smaller man fought as well as the bigger man. One of you said it right. If you're bigger then you fight bigger. If you smaller than fight smaller. Make the bigger man fight you're fight. Klitscho(before Strewart) never used his height to his advantage. That's the reason that glass jaw got tapped so much. Same thing with Lewis. Hearns wanted to fight an inside sock em bop em fight with Hagler...Advantage Hagler!!! So the fight plan and styles does have alot to do with it. Manny's style is a big man fight! When Cotto gets in that ring and realizes thet Pac does not have a true welter's punch (just like Hearns)you're going to see a BIGGER fighter beat the hell out of the SMALLER fighter!!!! Oscar would have ko'd Manny if they fought at 154. Marquez almost ko'd him at 135!!! Explain that one...

You talking street fighting!!! I'm talking Boxing!!! Get it straight dog. You know I've been in plenty of fight in my life time. I'm from East L.A( I lived right behind Garfield High on Vancouver st.)Grew up Gang Banging so don't try to act like you're a tough guy(don't act like Hitquenn). The ones that talk about being tough are usually the ones that have never been in a fight in thier lives. I always said I know what I can do...I don't need to talk about it!! Got nothing to prove. You got it all wrong...Boxing size does matter...Why else would you have weight classes in Boxing?

If it's going to be a game of basketball, then Pacman will definitely win, because they say he loves the game and he's a fast guard and a decent shooter.

Whereas, Cotto probably doesn't even know how to dribble... :O

Height in basketball is advantage if you are going to take advantae of your height and use it in the right way. But if you 6'10 and try to cover a little man on the perimeter he will blow right by you most of the time.. Boxing same thing if you are bigger and fight bigger than yes size and weight is advantage but if your opponent is too quick for you to hit than size may not do you much good if you cannot take advantage of it. Not much difference between say 146 and 142...Or even say 195 and 205.. weight does not necessarily mean strength and power...

Weight is relevant, but not at the elite level of the sport. Boxing history is filled with great fighters stepping up and beating bigger men. Its a part of what seperates the truely great from the very good.

Okay, then why have weight classes if they're so irrelevant? I never boxed much but I've fought plenty of times and played every sport that was available to me. Is height an advantage in Basketball? Yes. Do size and strength matter in football? Depends on the possition but the answer is still yes. It's about being able to take the hits the other person is dishing out. You need weight divisions or people will get killed. And I mean killed litterally. A couple of pounds either way isn't going to make a huge difference but any time you're talking about 10lbs difference between guys who weigh less that 200, it is.

Amen to that... If that was true, how have some fighters been so successful in moving up in weight and winning against formidable opponents that have been fighting at a heavy weight for a long time.

Do you think Pacquiao is on steroids?
Watching Pacquiao carry his power to the higher weight classes has me wondering is he is juicing. Being a personal trainer I know that it is very difficult to move up in weight and stay ripped. The Phillipines and Indosia are two of the biggest markets for steroids.
