Many questioned if Pacquiao would be able to have the same success at a higher weight, I think that question has been answered. The questions that remain are have we seen the best of Pacquiao yet? Will we see him face Hatton eventually at a higher weight and is he possibly the best P4P boxer in the sport?

Mayweather gets a bad rap for being a runner, but he actually stands in front of people and makes them miss with upperbody movements than he does with leg movement. I think that if Pac were to pull of the upset it would be because Money tends to stand and look to counter his opponents and that leads to a lot of inactivity in the ring. I feel Pac's hands are fast enough to press Money when he's standing and waiting and land some punches. I would compare this fight to the first de la Hoya-Mosley fight. de la Hoya, like Mayweather, is a fast guy and those guys seem to have trouble with guys that are a little faster.

Floyd Mayweather is the best fighter I've seen, but I think people have the wrong formula for beating Mayweather. People tend to think that because his lone close fight was against a guy that kinda muscled him, that's the way to beat him. But what people forget Mayweather was a 130 pounder coming up facing a Castillo who probaly should have been fighting at welterweight. Just like with de la Hoya, the size was just a lot for him to overcome. I think the way to beat Mayweather is to get him in there with a guy as fast or faster than himself. Mayweather is a defensive genius, and his reflexes are second to none. He would see everything a guy like Cotto would try to do, probaly before Cotto actually did it. But with Pacquaio, I think his hands are fast enough to throw Mayweather's timing off enough to land against him. People tend to forget that the most anxious moments of Mayweather's career has again fasthanded southpaws, Judah and Corley. And there is no more fasthanded southpaw in the game than Pacman.

But de la Hoya is sooo much bigger than Pac it has to mean something. In my opinion he fact that Pac is competing as a lightweight is incredible, I just don't know how far he can go up the ladder. I mean de la Hoya is a solid 154 lb fighter and I believe Pac could still make featherweight. I definately think Pac could outhustle, but one left hook and I think Pac's lights go out.

Let's not forget Pacquiao began his boxing career at Jr. Flyweight; whereas DLH began his at lightweight. It doesn't impress me any, if the fight were to take place. It doesn't matter, how anyone slices it. Pacquiao is the smaller man in statue, reach and weightclass. DLH fighting at a higher weightclass doesn't make it right. Beating on a smaller man is the easy wayout. What kind of legacy is that, if he were to lose to a smaller man? Again, the fight that needs to take place, is the winner of the Cotto/Margarito. Any other fight doesn't interest me. A Trinidad/DLH rematch is of little interest. Who would like to watch a rematch, that is 9yrs. overdue? Not too many do but I hate to say it, I'm one of them.

Oh man, when that happen, it's gonna be a big bang in boxing world. We will be witnessing a non-stop chasing fight on a ring-highway. Drag Racer Money vs Police Trooper Manny, LOL! I say Floyds Defense is the best in the game . And, his speed is right there with Pacquiao and probably has more power to go with it. I would have to analyze that on for awile -- Edited by dj30 at 07/18/2008 11:42 PM PDT

Not really. de la Hoya fought most of the top guys in the divisions he fought in durning his career, going from 130 all the way up to middleweight. He hasn't made a career out of picking on little guys. And if the Pacquaio fight happends his last two big fights would have been against guys rated #1 P4P, and in the biggest fight the sport could offer. That's pretty impressive to me.

Something tells me that if there is one fighter in the world to bring Mayweather out of retirement, it's Manny Pacquiao, IF he beats DeLaHoya. What a remainder of the year we as boxing fans have to look forward to, with the release of all the newly upcoming matches and news lately that will continue to shape boxing into next year, making the prospects so exciting and intriguing.

Instead of fighting the winner of the Cotto/Margarito. That would definately put him in the wuss category.

Wow!!! de la Hoya needs a good opponenet for his "finale", and Pacman could certainly fit the bill. de la Hoya could close out his career saying he fought the last two guys who were rated #1 P4P, and this fight could turn Pac into a megastar. Even though de la Hoya is past his prime, the fact that he would be a legitimate 154 pounder fighting a guy that could probaly still make featherweight would be interesting. And the fact that Pac isn't the boxer that Mayweather is, I would give de la Hoya a decent chance of winning.
