Leon from boxing talk said it'll take a couple of more high profile fights from Calzaghe to be on Hopkins level. I say Hopkins had 20 successful title defenses and Joe has had 21. Most of yall didn't even like B-Hop and most critics said the MW division was luke warm @ best during his reign. Trinidad-De La Hoya and Winky were smaller fighters. Jermain was the real test-but he didn't win either of those bouts.

I can't remember ever hearing any 1 openly say Tarver was nice-so where all this Legend crap come from. Call Joe a slapper, but he came thru in all his fights and the one's he wasn't suppose to come thru in-he came thru big time.

The MW division was just as dry as the SMW division. Some say B-Hop 7 or 8 years ago would've done this or that-but like Max said-he only thru a few more combo's that's it. B-Hop was in bigger fights-but the comp wasn't any different. Joe's big fights came against fighters his size-that's the difference. Big up to both fighter's-their both great-but one sun has set and the other is still shinning

Joe never once had Hopkins in the slightest bit of trouble at all. To tell the truth, this was one of the most dissapointing fights I have seen in awhile. Neither fighter deserved to be called a winner. Hopkins held all fight and Joe could not find a way to hit Hopkins clearly. I tell you this If Jones plays defense with his hands and feet instead of relying on relfexes of his upper body that are not what they used to be he has a definite chance to beat Joe. This will be the only fight that Joe has had that his opponent will be quicker and better hand speed than him. That will cause trouble for Joe in my opinion. I like Joe, but dont believe he has alot of power to put hurt on Jones. Jones will definitely slow Joes pace with defense and counter ability. I will definitely watch this fight.

Roy Jones is slicker, quicker and hits harder than Bernard Hopkins. While outlining Jones' less than stellar achievements of late you conveniently left out the fact that Joe Calzaghe had a less than dominating performance against Bernard Hopkins and only pulled off the victory due to the fact that Bernard failed to pick up the pace in the later rounds. I'm not discounting the probability of a Calzaghe win but the conclusions should not be based on Calzaghe's stellar resume.

Agree. Calzaghe didn't dominate the fight. In fact, he was playing catchup against a 43yr. old fighter. Hopkins lost the fight in the later rounds. He lost the fight in the last two rds. Had Hopkins stepped it up, and connected more punches, he would have won the fight. Hopkins landed more effective punches; whereas Calzaghe volume punch, his way to victory. Hopkins corner done him a disservice by telling him, that he was ahead in the fight. In retrospect, Calzaghe didn't win the fight, it was Hopkins who lost. By the 11th rd. Hopkins complained about a 2nd. low blow. He appeared to be working on a 2nd badly needed wind. By this time he had lost the War of Nutrition and in the judge's scorecards.LoL

When has Hopkins ever been dominated? He could retire not undefeated but as an Unvanquished fighter. Who has lost but never been Beat.

I knew a girl in the 7th grade that fought exactly like Calzaghe. Kind of a "I'll scratch your eyes out fighter".

Funny how some things trigger old memories.....

Roy Jones elects not to punch with his opponent and instead cover, often times languishing on the ropes. Against a high-energy, high-output fighter like Calzaghe, that spells almost certain defeat. I don't think Jones can outmanuever and outbox Calzaghe, so that almost forces Roy to catch Calzaghe with one good shot on his way in. Roy has the power; question is, will he commit to it as he needs to?

If Joe cannot hurt Roy he will possibly be in trouble. Jones defense against tito was better than the past showings for Jones. If JOnes will keep his hands up and play defense against a big shot landing he has a chance in this fight. Joe has never seen the hand speed that he will against Roy. Never...

Gabossboy, we already know Hanshaw and Tito was dropped, but they pushed Jones even in defeat. The funny thing is, I don't think Calzaghe will hit Jones any harder than Tito did, but the difference will probably be the work rate. Jones defense isn't exactly as good as B-Hop's-Jone's like's to go to the ropes, try to cover up and counter from time to time. He doesn't hold like B-Hop-so I can see him getting tired a lot sooner. Roy does have a good punch @ LH though.

Bottom line-I'll go for Jones when or if they fight, but I firmly believe Joe Calzaghe may very well retire an undefeated number 2 or 1 P4P ring magazine and recognized champ in his division. Say what you want, but far as title defense's go-I can't see any 1 breaking the 20 & 21 title defense's set by Joe and B-Hop.

Prince Ajamu only won the first round. Hanshaw got dropped and Trinidad got dropped twice.

Guys,

Let's not forget that Anthony Hanshaw, Prince Osama bin Laden, and an overweight Felix Trinidad were recently seen winning rounds from Roy Jones.

Dontcha think that CalSlappy can win 7 rounds? On work rate alone?

I've been leaning that way too, but I've already pissed off all the britts and hate to see them cry.
