In college, I worked a summer in a phone center that handled the old Primestar Satellite TV service. Before every Tyson fight we'd get hundreds of phone calls inquiring about the fight, usually followed by a hundred or so people wanting refunds because the fight was so disappointing. So with that in mind, what's the worst fight you've ever seen? Was there one fight that you've wanted your PPV money back after witnessing it?

Agreed...the worst fights that I have ever seen are all ties, involving the following (active) big-name fighters by weight class class: John Ruiz. heavyweight Chris Byrd. cruiserweight Felix Sturm. middleweight Cory Spinks. junior middleweight Paulie Malignaggi. junior welterweight Zahir Raheem. lightweight Ivan Calderon. junior flyweight -- http://www.fightinsight.com/2008/05/08/will-ricky-hatton-and-junior-witter-finally-meet/

Johnson found it both safer and more lucrative to fight white hopes than Sam Langford in a title defense. I've read they fought a draw once but no record of it at boxrec. -- ?Fighters today are babied. Back in my day, we took risks and fought ?em all.? I am kinda catching in on the tail end of this conversation. But in my opinion the heavyweight division sucks. FIghts are pretty boring, not alot of overall skill in the ring. When I say that i may speed, power, a llittle bit of flamboyance in the ring. To be honest, the last time I was really interested in a heavyweight fight was probably when Lewis fought Vitali years ago.. The division needs someone to stand up and do something. Vladimir is most talented but damn he is so methodical and boring. -- Douglas

jimearl you my friend know your shit! its true the heavy weight division before the coming of dempsey ( on tape, what we see i mean) was awful to watch. they were all so technichal, and the whole theory of heavy weights needing to KAYO guys didnt seem to apply back then much either. so take that ppl who bitch about heavy weights today. it was dempsey who redefined the heavy weight idea. vicious angry animal like fighters, big brawny and pretty dumb. I do think out of all the heavies back at that time the one who scares me the most is sam langford. i mean he was 5'6 and stalked bigger men. STALKED THEM and he took em out with one shot. he looked like a small version of george foreman LOL!

I was sitting ringside in Atlantic City at Bowe vs. Golota II. The fight and post fight was extremely outlandish and I had a marvelous time, one of my best experiences at a prize fight.

> 1) jack johnson vs jim jeffris LOL > god johnson clinched for like 11 rounds or something > i lost track > the kayo was great and funny too. > Lots of clinching back then because the fights lasted 20 plus rounds. Gans and everybody clinched then but often delivered the KO. If they fought now, I'm sure they'd adapt and still be great fighters. > well not to white ppl > but it was a bad fight > it was so friggin dull, jeffris was so out of shape > and for a fight that had such drama it didnt really > deliver in the ring > > but i guess ppl forgive when someone gets kayoed > It wasn't the best fight alright. As far as that goes the Johnson/Burns fight was a one sided thumping. I'm thinking that Joe Gans and Stanley Ketchel probably delivered better action than the heavyweights often did back then. Nevertheless, I'll submit Joe Gans/Terry McGovern which Joe was said to have thrown for another shot at the lightweight title. -- She was for the war before she was against the war. I have to add Prince Naseem Hamed or what ever his name was. Most of his fights were pretty bad.
