British boxing star Amir Khan wants to face the winner of the David Diaz-Manny Pacquiao fight, which is being screened live on Setanta Sports.
The Las Vegas bout on June 28 will be closely scrutinised by the Bolton fighter, who is action against Michael Gomez in Birmingham on Saturday.
If the Olympic silver medallist successfully defends his commonwealth lightweight title, he feels he will soon be in pole position to take on either Diaz or Pacquiao for the world crown.
"I'm fighting in front of a 10,000 sell out on Saturday night so I think I'm one of the main men in the division," said Khan.
"And, by the end of the year, I'm not just going to be one of the main men, I'm going to the number one, and everyone's going to be after me.
"I've got a high rating with both the WBO and the WBC, and I feel ready for a world title shot.
"Diaz and Pacquiao are both great fighters, but I'm confident that I could beat both of them."
Pacquiao has already been mentioned as a possible opponent for Ricky Hatton in the near future.
Khan would also fancy a contest with Nate Campbell if promoter Frank Warren can set up the fight.
"I'd love to fight Campbell," added Khan. "I've dreamed about becoming a world champion all my life and I'm nearly there.
"I read some of the stuff that Campbell said about me the other week, and it just made me laugh.
"After I've taken his world titles away from him he'll be giving me the respect I deserve."

Gomez was explosive in those first three rounds, Kahn was really struggling...pity he just ran out of steam, think he'going to retire now, he never fully fulfilled his potential, he's bit of nutter lol...
They are thinking of making a movie of his life though

He's been trained by Dean Powell at the minute but he's looking for an American trainer, think Buddy McGirt or one of the Mayweathers are favourite to take him on soon

I commend Khan's ambition, but someone needs to lay down some facts. Khan needs some tweeking and a little more of some fine tuning before considering the likes of Paquiao in my opinion.
I like Khan and what he is bringing to the sport though, and will continue to watch him grow.

Even at 135lbs.... if you have defensive lapses & a suspect chin, Manny Pac's left is going to hit you & hurt you- a lot.

Gomez put Kahn down in the second, and caught Kahn flush on a number of occasions... this is the third time Kahns go put down in a fight... although he recovered yet agiain to KO Gomez... still it's clear kahn is a long way off the Manny's of this world he'll have to knock that on the head, he's still to vunerable when he tries to fight on the inside and fight toe to toe... however he looks impressive when he holds back and just picks people off
He's got the potential no doubt, but he's a long away from being a world beater, still he's only 21 plenty off time yet... he should wise up though and stop calling out Manny or Diaz or fighters at that level, they probably just laughed

Kahn's Chin is questionable but I'm unimpressed with someone who's been knocked down in there career. Name a great fighter that has never been down?......I like to see prospects hurt and knocked down because thats when you see what they've got inside them you can see if they've got the heart of a champ. With that said I still don't think Kahn is ready for Manny.

Unbeaten lightweight contender Amir Khan recovered from a second round knockdown to stop Michael Gomez in five knockdown-filled rounds to retain his Commonwealth title in Birmingham, England. Khan dropped Gomez in round one and again in round five before the bout was stopped at 2:32 of the fifth.
