FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Chad Dawson A Boxing Superstar...Not Greenwich, Connecticut - The Paper Champions Society reports that the boxing hierarchy has been on a desperate mission to anoint paper champion Chad Dawson as one of the boxing stars of the future but thus far they have failed miserably. The national membership director for the Paper Champions Society Tom Rutowski, states that the first time Chad Dawson fought Antonio Tarver reliable sources mentioned this uninspiring fight achieved a live gate paid attendance of an paltry sum of 911 tickets and a terribly low television rating. "After the failure of the first fight between Dawson and Tarver you would think the powers that be in boxing would realize that you cannot turn a paper champion like Chad Dawson into a superstar. However, Chad Dawson was given yet another opportunity to fight Tarver in rematch and show the boxing world he will never become a boxing superstar. This time, Chad Dawson the favored headliner in the rematch, bombed at the box office again selling only 1,400 tickets. " Tom Rutowski explained. "When is the boxing hierarchy going to wake up, smell the coffee and realize that Chad Dawson has been given enough opportunities to become the next boxing superstar but he has repeatedly dropped the ball. Chad Dawson is the kind of fighter who doesn't care about his legacy or putting on exciting fights for the fans who pay their hard earned money. The boxing business is being extorted by a pampered fraud like Chad Dawson who wants to make the big money but refuses to give the fans what they pay for, real fights. " Tom Rutowski explained. "When Chad Dawson fights it should be mandatory for boxing fans to have a remote control, a blanket and a pillow in close proximity. Chad Dawson's fights have been known to cause coma like symptoms in a large percentage of boxing fans worldwide. At this point in his boxing career, no one has ever taught Chad Dawson the characteristics of what makes a real world champion. Just because you have a title belt around your waist that doesn't automatically make you fight like a champion. " Tom Rutowski explained. Chad Dawson hasn't earned the right to make big paydays in the sport of boxing. Chad Dawson needs to look in the mirror and ask himself does he want to continue disappointing the boxing fans. By allowing himself to show that he is a under achiever that continuously puts on boring fights in the ring. On the other hand, will Chad Dawson finally man up and give the fans some exciting fights worth talking about? The answer to this question remains to be seen. After a couple rounds you could tell this would be the pattern of the fight. Johnson showed good defense as well and head movement but he couldnt get off. Dawson just outclassed him. Johnson doesnt need to retire nor was he beaten too submission.

He picked a and chose his shots and utilized good defense which has always been his achilles heel. Because Dawson did not open up as much. Johnson did not know what to do and he stood there waiting for an opening. So it was more the gameplan of Dawson than Johnson looking old. Truth be told there was no need for a rematch. The fight was more exciting last time because Dawson fought Johnson's fights and Johnson was a live dog. Dawson made sure it didnt happen this time around.

My lady watched the fights with me Saturday and made the following observations: On Cotto: "Are his eyebrows shaped? Wow..." On Johnson: "How old is that guy?"

I was at a wedding Saturday night so I missed this fight, didn't see anything on the Haye fight, or even the Fedor fight other than stuff I've read. From what I've read about the rematch Dawson dominated easily and Johnson showed his age for once? Is that an accurate assessment?

I dont think Dawson carried Johnson. I think thats the type of fighter he is. He doesnt go in for the kill. He's happy to win a decision. I think that will affect his popularity quite a bit.

"Dawson made it look easy" Pharris, I believe Dawson carried Johnson, out of respect for the old warrior. He eased off the pedal frequently down the stretch. -- Edited by rikyricardo79 at 11/08/2009 12:39 PM PST

IMO, the days of sitting around taking on contender after contender for years on end is over. The best two, and biggest stars in the sport, have basically made a career of cherry picking top guys in multiple divisions. Fighters today don't fight enough to go for years and years taking on every up-and-comer coming down the pike.

If I'm Dawson, theonly reason I make 168 is for a superfight, which only Paul Williams would provide.

I think Erdei would fight him its just gotta be in Germany. A road trip is a cool thing. And if he fights the winner of Pascal/Diaconu he adds to his claim as the best of the division.l After that his options are limited tho.

Dawson shouldn't even consider moving up-the higher weight division aren't 4 everyone. Dawson should probably fight Pascal next or make a move to 168 where the competition is loaded and he should be able 2 make some good money down there. 168 is pretty hot right now-so if he can make the move-then thats what he should do-I mean he's already expressed an enterest 2 move to 168 so maybe he should
