"At age 26, Dawson already has wins over Tomasz Adamek, Glen Johnson and now Tarver to his credit. Soon he'll be a fixture on many pound-for-pound lists, but it says here that he's already the best 175-pounder on the planet." Steve Kim finally realized this after Saturday's fight. It's a bit weird, that Dawson is a great talent, yet hardly anybody mentions it. I mean he just had a huge win this past Saturday night and nobody really comments on it and a lot of people actually picked him to lose. I think is probably b/c he's in the wrong network. Hardcore fans or not if Jim Lampley is not telling you this guy is the 2nd coming of SRL, is hard to get excited about him. Either way at 26 Dawson has shown that he's the real deal people where expecting a guy like Berto to win. As for his performance, I was actually a bit disappointed b/c this guy has potential to be Floyd like. I won't say RJJ like, b/c well NOBODY can be like Roy. However Dawson posseses some of the same traits Floyd does, but some of the huge flaws Judah has. The most aggrevating thing he does is that he gives away parts of the rounds; and I don't mean just run around, he actually stands and takes punches he shoudln't be taking. Either way a fight that should be a no brainer is him and Pav. Both are up and comers, both are taking on old dogs, they should do what Oscar, Tito, and Quartey did and fight each other during their prime. As it is I would take Dawson by UD. -- "The next time you see Joan Guzman ? well, never mind. You may never see him again."

I've made my pick (which is Chad), but I must admit I couldn't care less about which one of 'em got jakked up. I like good fights and that seems to be the most logical fight on the horizon imo.

The difference being: I normally keep all my so-called valid excuses to myself.

It should be even clearer now, but I'll say it again Dawson beats Pav. He's just too good for him. Also I would pick him over Bhop, he just moves too much for the old man. -- "The next time you see Joan Guzman ? well, never mind. You may never see him again."

All i said was Pavlik has people gunnin for him in the SMW and MW Division, because he still holds some status there. I never said pavlik was my favorite fighter personally, but I give him his props, even with his this loss, and will watch his next fight. As far as people making excuses, I agree, but I also listen to good points if a pundit or enthusiast show validity behind what they say. Zip - Pavlik has been exposed. It doesn't matter now who beats him. Hopkins will get the credit for setting the playbook in motion. Anyone who beats Pavlik from here on out will play second fiddle. There won't need to be any excuses. -- How come we choose from just two people to run for president and over fifty for Miss America ?

Any win by either PW or Chad Dawson will be met with excuses for losing just like Roy Jones Jr. We're gonna hear stuff like: B. Hop ruined him or mentally Pavlik never got over his lost to Hopkins or Pavlik just doesn't have it anymore, or any of a dozen of excuses they try an come up with around here. I don't think either one of us is willing to change our positions on that one so that's OK, fine, but I got three questions. #1.)In what fight leading up to his first fight with Antonio Tarver did Roy Jones show his so-called skill fading? #2.) If Roy was SO DIMINISHED as you say, then how come everybody and their brother around here gave me such a tough time when I first got here and said Antonio was gonna put the worlds previously undefeat- ed P4P champ Roy Jones into a COMA? Why???????? And last but not least, question #3.) Why did Roy Jones himself say "he could not have beaten Antonio Tarver at any time during their respective career's??" The impression I felt was: I had committed boxing sacrilege when I said "Roy Jones was gonna get knocked out by Antonio Tarver." From what I remember: When Roy got knocked out (exactly like I said he would ) it was so amazing to everyone that it made head lines around the globe. Do you deny this? -- Edited by ziptop at 10/19/2008 6:15 PM PDT

"A victory over Pavlik in the future now by either PW or Chad Dawson won't have the same flavor." Well ZIP, that's a yes and a no, Pavlik still is top dog in his division, and parades around with something Dawson, Abraham, Kessler, Andrade, and a couple of others are capable of obtaining between SMW and MW, they are are gunnin for Pavlik , and he sits in their radars comfortably. -- "because I am hard you will not like me, but the more you hate me the more you will learn, I am hard, but I am fair, there is no racial bigotry here" ~ Full Metal Jacket. -- Edited by rikyricardo79 at 10/19/2008 3:24 PM PDT

>BTW Zip, >I don't recall you making a pick in JME's "FIGHT POLLS" >thread. Gloating is best left to the pickers of winners, >imo. Please,...As many negative post's that I've written against Kelly Pavlik and what I thought he was all about and how he would LOSE badly to either PW or Chad should more than enough for me to gloat. And that sir is exactly what I'm doin. I've never made a pick on JME's "FIGHT POLLS"I make my picks in my own written post's, besides The only sad part is: A victory over Pavlik in the future now by either PW or Chad Dawson won't have the same flavor.

But, he did listen to you where the oil market was concerned, & yanked his money out of 'em back in Mid-August. He appreciated the tips.
