If the 11 rd had been 30 seconds longer it might have been an 11 rd tko tho.

CT...

How do you see the bout going ?>>>

I'll be on vacation, so I won't even see the bout. I expect to pick up the paper the next day and read that Hopkins won by 11th round TKO.

I'll return to the Forum at the end of next week and ya'll will have erected a thread in my honor, wildly praising my prognosticating skills.>>>

Where's my thread, fellas?! :^O

One of the reasons is b/c people appreciate victories even more when fighters do it at the end of their careers. Jones will get way more credit if he beat joe C now than he would have if he beat him when he was younger.

That's if Jones can get past Calzaghe, cause Hopkins has already said, he wants the winner.
Either way Hopkins gets a shot at redemption from both fighters.

I got Joe beating Jones. Jones is gunshy and don't take risks. He'll fight an uninspiring safe fight and lose a decision. I think that sets up a rematch with Hopkins and here's why.

Hopkins floored Joe in the first fight. Hopkins is coming off one of the most if not the most impressive wins of his career. Hopkins is willing to go to Wales and fight Joe in his backyard. Some pretty good selling points and the fans will be eager I'm sure. The money should be there with 90k fans willing to buy tickets. Joes win wasn't a total domination either. I think the second fight has more intrigue and will be more competitive than the first. I'm gonna start saving my nickels.

"I think they should fight a second time to settle the score,"

I could see the headline title for the fight reading something like:

Jones Vs. Hopkins: The Long Awaited

That's if Jones can get past Calzaghe, cause Hopkins has already said, he wants the winner.
Either way Hopkins gets a shot at redemption from both fighters.

I think they should fight a second time to settle the score, and if necessary, a third time. I don't think we'll hear any "60/40 and I'll kick your ass" out of Jones now. They should fight not just for money, but recognition, as in who history will remember more kindly as the greater fighter. They should make a personal bet that the loser of the upcoming fight should retire, and if not, that the winner gets 50% of all the loser's future purses. And the loser has to speak on the winner's behalf on his induction into the IBHOF, and call him "my daddy", or some other such demeaning and obsequious gesture. These two have such a rich, personal history that should go down in history the way Ali and Frazier did; together. :-D

I didnt like this matchup from the beginning. Too big of a jump up and too crafty of an opponent.
I think Pavlik will move back down for a while and work the mw div like he ought to.

I disagree. It's a closed gap, that's for sure... but I'll take spectacular over a shorter period than very, very good for a longer period.

Sandy Koufax > Greg Maddux, as an example.

Spanning more weight classes, better victories against better opponents, higher peak all trump Hopkins longevity coupled with Jones's fall.

In their primes, Jones beats Hopkins every time, & beats the same opponents more impressively than Hopkins would.

But, here is Hopkins so late in his career....using his incredible savvy & experience to hang with the youngins & also be able to defeat some of them.

I can agree. While Jones at his best was more impressive than Hops at his best, Hops has made more of a career/legacy for himself.

I think Dawson would be a big mistake for Hops at this point. That is a young lion who WOULD make him look old. He should stay faaaar away from Bad Chad.

No Chad Dawson? Dawson may be the biggest challenge out there for Hopkins now within a reasonable weight range, should he choose to fight on, which apparently he will.
