Well, it was as awful as could be imagined. Two guys doing nothing, round after round. Valuev following around Haye, attempting to jab to Haye's head...Haye retreating, occasionally attempting to jab to Valuev's stomach...countering now and then. Haye did manage to buckle Valuev in the 12th, but nothing came of it. I'm not sure how this would have ended up had this been a 15 round fight, as i likely would have committed suicide shortly after the 12th.

Losses are not fatal, and certainly Angulo is no worse for it. Ortiz I think could use the humility - although his credentials entering the fight were umimpeachable. But fighters lose, and protecting "0s" is silly - Ortiz lost, but to a good fighter in a near-great fight ... no reason he cannot recover.

I think that taking on the winner of Malignaggi / Diaz is an excellent way for him to go in that they are both light hitters and the risk of another walkout on the Kansas fighter's part should be slim.....should be.

Ortiz started to believe his own hype. All those Future Faces of Boxing characters did. Ortiz thought he could walk on water, Kirkland thought he was some type of thug kingpin, Angulo thought he was ready to step up when he wasn't and Arreola thought he didn't need to train anymore. Maybe now that Ortiz is off his high horse he'll revert back to the fighter he was earlier. Sometimes a dose of humility does great things for fighters. Hopefully this one of those cases because i did enjoy his previous fights.

He didnt just lose that fight due to a moment of weakness. Maidana adjusted, tied up inside, and went to beating him from the outside. Ortiz's footwork was bad, and El Chino was lining him up for that right hand something nasty.

I think the key is just getting Ortiz' name back in the paper. Let's face it - before the loss he had been on a very impressive streak, crushing a couple of very estimable opponents (ok, maybe Maussa is not VERY estimable). I think a rematch with Maidana is the eventual place - despite the ending, it was a terrific fight and no reason he can't win a rematch. (obviously this assumes Ortiz has that fight in him for real)

So Ortiz is still on the undercard in that which makes me wonder if they're also considering taking on the winner of Malignaggi / Diaz

If Haye fights like that against Vitali or Wlad then hopefully he'll get his brains all shook up...

Well with Haye winning a belt. It ensures us that we will see Haye in there with one of the Klitscko's. And whoever said it is correct. They ll have to go thru Vitaly (who I think has always been the better Klitscko) before they get to Wlad. Haye being in the heavyweight division shakes things up

Hey ... Wlad is on the shelf til the spring ... really the miracle is Vitali having 3 title defenses in a year, 4 in 15 months ... considering how injury prone he has been ... And Eddie Chambers (the likely match) is more deserving than Kevin Johnson ... not that I think Johnson is a bad choice - really the pickings at heavy are SO slim that Kevin is at least as interesting a name as anyone (Povetkin is better qualified, but not that much more compelling)

That seems to be the system. Any possible threat to Wlad will get sent Vit's way first.
