For these reasons: Strength wise, Hatton will be stronger, so pushing him around coming forward is out of question. That would leave Pacquiao with getting on his toes and trying to box as he did against Delahoya. As good as Pac looked in that fight, it was largely due to what was wrong with Oscar then what was right with Manny. Manny isn't a good technical boxer, he has speed but no defense like a Mayweather. One thing we know that can hurt Hatton is counter punching. Can Manny counter punch effectively against Hatton? I doubt it. And if he tries to just come forward and bully Ricky, can you seriously say that he can do any better then a Kostya Tszyu, who is a MUCH bigger puncher then Pacquiao and a overall stronger jr.welterweight. So he can't outbox him to a 12 round decision because he lacks the technical boxing skills and defense/discipline. He can't hurt Pacman by being the stronger, more powerful puncher because he isn't (Kostya Tszyu, a bigger puncher couldn't do it) and he can't counter punch the way Floyd did and knock him out. What does that leave him with?

This fight WILL be competitive. Both men have alot of tenacity and heart. Definately a pay per view fight that I'm willing to shell out for. For me this ones a hard fight to call. I predicted that Pacquiao would have a very easy win against Oscar DeLahoya because Oscar was mentally on his way towards retirement. With Hatton, you have a hungrier fighter that wants to overcome the embarassment of the Mayweather Jr. fight. He will not be the punching bag that Oscar was (no disrespect meant toward DeLahoya who, in his prime, was an exeptional athlete). He'll be throwing alot of punches. Both of these guys will. I expect to see Ricky try and box Manny for a while and then when he finds out how much faster Manny is he'll resort to brawling and holding. At this point, manny will probably try and trade punches with the englishmen, which will be his mistake. I predict Hatton by KO.

Guys stop talking about ricky in the past, different trainer different tactics. We saw a much cooler fighter against Paulie. I think your gonna see a different fighter on Sat . Ricky now moves his head and instead of thinking he can walk through punches hes more composed. He thought he could bulldoze his way through pfb and got owned, he wont make the same mistake. We saw a weight drained oscar get smashed. your not gonna see a a weight drained Hatton and therefore manny might feel some serious power. How he deals with it will be interesting but I see Hatton being too powerful especially to the body. Manny will feel how it is to face a solid 140 lbs aggressive mutha f**ker. Strange thing his I like Manny alot and if he does it then props to him. Speed against power if Ricky can pounce on Manny like he did to kostya then he may well upset the odds.

I echo your sentiments. Something tells me Pacquiao finally hits the wall in this one. How many times have we seen a fighter look untouchable only to realize they moved up too high in weight against the wrong guy? Hatton has a real chance here. http://boxingfanatics.com/wpz/2009/04/30/hatton-pac-thought/ -- Edited by boxingfan777 at 04/30/2009 3:42 PM PDT

Well troops, .... reading back the past few pages I can see between you, ...... you've covered just about every possible scenario ! Shockarooney ........... Jim is still moaning Hatton hasn't fought any 140lbers .............. Russell28 babbles ......... and NeutralCorner is inside Hatton's head .......... no .... everyone's head with his psychoanalytical prognosis ! G.O.L.D ! .... I tell you. Russell28 states it's a no-brainer ,...... Hatton ain't that strong ......... is a club-fighter ........ and will end up a bruised, cut-up mess. ............. but wait there ...... he thinks Pacman may also be in trouble in the early rounds and get decked a few times to boot by this unstrong club fighter ? Jim clings to the notion that Hatton will eventually lose at 140 ............... it really annoys him that no-ones managed that yet and even although he tipped Paulie to outclass him ........ a Paulie that was rated Numero Uno challenger btw ........... he sticks his nose in the air, digs his heels in and states ....... "he's only fought 2 current Ring 140 top 10ers " .................. H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S ................. I mean do you really think Ricky should not have fought Floyd or Collazo at 147 ? .......... or Pacman now ? ............... even Castillo given that that win helped seal the deal for the Floyd fight! ........... remember Ricky calling him out after the emphatic liverpunch ? I seem to remember you claiming N'Goudjo was awesome as well Jim yet no mention that Hatton outclassed Urango who smahed up your (Her)man ? Even the Lazcano fight can be deemed acceptable considering it was after the guys only defeat ! |(heavy defeat at that!) Keep it real Jim ................ go look at the resumes of your other 140 fighters and be honest with yourself. Yes, there is a new generation coming through (Ortiz etc), so obviously if you keep banging on about it for years then you'll eventually get it right ............ yes Jim ..... first there was N'Dou, ..... Holt ...... N'Goudjo ..... Paulie ......... yes it has been years now you've been moaning ................... truth is they're simply not as good as Hatton and not on his radar in some cases. Hatton could've beaten Holt or N'Dou but he fought better fighters in Floyd and Collazo ...... And then there's our resident Freudian ........ NeutralCorner ........ ....... with his ... "Oh ... Hatton and indiscipline go hand-in-hand" ......... "the fight will be won and lost when Hatton reverts back to his most basic, natural tendencies ......... indiscipline ! " ..................... Very entertaining guys !

> Hatton has a puncher's chance, which is about 3%. > Pacquiao is far superior in every other category. > Pacquiao by TKO in less than 9 rounds. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm really inclined to believe that Pacman's going to win, except that Mayweather Sr. insists that he's the world's best trainer...

This ain't a question if manny can hurt hatton.. 'coz for sure manny WILL.. but when it goes down to boxing fundamentals.. manny has the edge.. i've seen hatton in hbo 24/7 he's really got underrated speed plus i believe he can throw punches that can rock pacquiao out.. but as said fundamentally pacquiao has the credit 'coz he can dart his way in giving hatton a few combinations and get out flawlessly then do the same thing all over again using the handspeed, head movement and footwork he has with him during birth.. on defense: hatton and pacquiao certainly's got defensive problems both guys unwillingly offer their chins when trying to wrecklessly attack their opponents but lately i've noticed that pacquiao has polished his defense under roach's careful eyes.. as for hatton he can of course defend himself 'coz of floyd sr.'s instructions but when the moment comes that he loses his mind and says to himself that he gotta bully his way into pac's defense then that's the time he's gonna punish himself the way he did when he lost to floyd jr.. the score? it goes down to who has the better self-control not to lose the game-plan prepared by two of the best boxing coaches to ever walk on earth.. the style will surely be contrastingly great and the tempo will as well be exciting.. the bottom line is the mental execution.. and from here i'd take on pacquiao in 10 or 11..

I swore I wouldn't watch this fight when Pac beat ODLH. AND..... I said it before this fight was even made.. Hmmmmm....How did I know??? Because we were being sold this fight by Mr. take a dive and fight like crap ODLH to make big dollars with Hatton and fan fav PAC. With that said this will be a great fight with the styles of both of these warriors. Hard pick but I'm taking Hatton. Boxers...the toughest S.O.B.'s on the planet bar none. When they die it's from blunt force trauma for 36 minutes sometimes less.
